Carina’s POV
Two weeks later,
My mother broke down in tears when she informed me she owed Mister Sebastian a large sum of money. She does so in order to save the farm and keep my father's hospital treatment going.
"I'm going to speak with that man," I declared boldly.
"My daughter, the loan's interest rate is rising. I'm not sure we'll be able to pay that much for the rest of our life because the farm is also struggling."
I grumbled and made my way to the barn, where I planned to ride a horse.
This man is causing me and my family a great deal of distress. What was he thinking when he did this to us?
I really hate him.
"Ralf, be kind to me today and obey," I told my black horse, "since we need to visit the superior asshole." I'm wearing a white knee-length dress with an off-shoulder; I may appear cute, but when I see Sebastian today, I'm going to punch him in the face.
"All right, Ralf, let's go." As I sat on my horse's back, I began to converse with him, and he began to walk and eventually run in the direction I directed him.
As I ride my horse into the woods and past a few woodlands, I feel a sense of freedom and enjoyment for the first time in three years since I left. This horse is one of my favorites.
The lush greenery in the neighborhood, as well as the scent of fresh woodland air, makes me feel at ease. I was about to forget about Sebastian when I noticed him standing in the distance, waiting for me to come to a halt.
I gulped when his eyes landed on my eyes, then I stop the horse and I am surprised when helped me get down.
“Don’t touch me,” I said and glared at him sharply.
He groaned, placed his hat on the chair, and as I looked around, I noticed that he lives in a large house that we call a wonderful mansion.
If he lives here, why don't I remember him from my childhood? Or maybe I don't know him at all.
"Carina, what are you doing here?" He asks me, and his voice has a velvety quality to it that makes it appealing to listen to, but I don't like him. He's my adversary; he compels me to do things I didn't want to do.
When his gaze fell on my bare shoulder, I took a step back.
he gasped as he licked his lower lip seductively while looking at me,
"I'm here to ask you why you have given that money to my parents when you know they won't be able to pay it back so quickly?"
While staring at me, he sits calmly in his wooden chair, his legs in a widespread position.
"They're in desperate need of funds..." He said calmly.
“Who are you?! How come…” When I couldn't think of anything to say to him, I bit my lower lip. He's a jackass who appears out of nowhere to cause me problems.
"You've never heard of me? Don't worry, I'm not in a hurry to ask them to pay me," he said, raising an eyebrow.
I sighed quietly and stood in front of him, blinking my eyes, wondering why this man now appeared to be a good person.
“I hate you…” I said.
"It's fine if you hate me for as long as you want. I understand I'm a nasty person who forced myself onto you; I understand that every time I see you, I get weak; and I understand that this uncontrollable emotion still lingers inside of me, screaming to let it out," he stated.
I frowned at him and turned to return to my horse, but he grabbed my hand and said, "If you try to be good to me, I will not bother your parents."
"What do you want?" I yanked away from him and pushed him.
“Let’s be friends…” he said.
I scoffed sarcastically and slapped his face. “Friends? After all that you did to me, you expect me to be a friend to someone like you?!”
He rubbed the side of his face and smirked at me, “You are so stubborn, woman…”
I wanted to slap his face again, but he stopped my hand,
“Stop slapping my face!”
He glared at me.
Then an old woman just opened the front door and asked, “What happened here?”
“Uh…” I gulped and cast a glance at Sebastian.
“Grandma, meet Carina.”
His grandma smiled at me and gave me a warm hug. This may feel so awkward and I don’t like it, but his grandma looks like a good person.
“Oh, come in inside, I baked a cake. I think you might want to taste it?” She is talking to me. I am speechless. She chuckles and says, “Oh, I’m sorry, let me introduce myself, I am Rosaria and I have lived in this place for a decade now. Look at you, you are a grown-up woman now…”
I am confused about how she knows me.
I followed her inside while Sebastian was behind me. I can feel his warm breath on my neck. When I glance at him, his face is so close to me that it makes me gulp. He stared at my lips and I pursed my lips in a disgusting face.
Then I saw a painting of a girl that really looked like me.
But why?
Sebastian clears his throat and says, “Do you wonder why?”
“Why?”
We stare at each other's eyes intensely and it feels like we are talking through our eyes.
His grandmother put the baked cake on the table happily and said, “It’s a Manzana cake, you know why I call it Manzana? Because Manzana is an apple. I learn these skills from my mother. I hope you are going to like it. Come on taste, don’t be shy.” she gave me a fork and I smiled at her warmly and took a slice of cake and moaned, “Hmm, it tastes so good.” I said honestly.
Sebastian chuckled softly while shaking his head, “I find it amusing,” he said.
Oh my god, I really hate this guy.
