Well, that was so unsatisfying.
Such were the thoughts of Appepa as she stared at the corpse of the man that she just murdered, letting out a huge sigh.
Such a waste of looks. He was more handsome than any of the men she killed, at least, she saw him as more handsome.
But they were all the same. Terrified of her, because of what she was.
She couldn't help the hiss in her voice, the eyes that she inherited from her ancestors. The dryness of her skin and- oh who was she kidding?
She once thought like that, but not anymore.
Twenty years was time enough to get used to it.
Plus, it wasn't as if she couldn't change her appearance.
She left the mine with a smirk to take a walk outside.
Helio.
Damned Helio.
Damn them all and damn them well.
The same way they damned her.
"Helio! I shall return to you!" she yelled, letting out a loud cackle.
At that exact moment, a cold wind fluttered through the air, nipping at her.
"f**k! I'm going back inside," she said, retreating to the warmth of her mine.

"f*****g weaklings!" exclaimed Appepa, pulling at her hair, "why can't they come and face me? Why am I doing good for them?"
She could never truly fathom it. Why did they send their murderers to her? Not like she wasn't grateful, she enjoyed toying with them. She never intended on killing them, she wanted to make them into her minions.
However, the only good Helian was a dead one.
"The day I conquer my fear of the cold, it's over for you!" she said, copying the foreigner she killed a few months ago.
"Really Appepa, another one?"
In entered Anubis, already facepalming as he saw the corpse.
Not as if he wasn't used to this. He had been doing this for so long, time has become fluid to him.
But he didn't expect to have to be guiding more souls because of Apep's adopted daughter.
What was he thinking, giving his powers to a mere human?
She didn't even share his blood.
"Anu, how lovely of you to join me!" she yelled, about to tackle him into a hug.
"I am not one of your deceased friends," said Anubis, stopping her, "I am a god. You will refer to me as-"
"You're basically the undertaker of the gods," she said, twirling her hair, "tell me I'm wrong."
He sighed deeply.
"I will wait for your death and I will give you a very hard time," he said.
She laughed maniacally.
"Please do, I'm tired of dominating."
"Whatever," he said, scoffing, "I'm here for Ammon."
"Oh, the cute man? He's over there," said Appepa, gesturing to the corner where she left his body, "next to the rubies."
Anubis walked over to where Ammon's body was, tutting at the scratches on his body. He touched the man. In an instant, his spirit left.
"Must you kill them? You're basically Helio's executioner, you know that right?"
Appepa glowered but clenched her fists. She knew he was right, but she hated losing to anyone, even if it was a god.
"I don't have a choice," she said.
"You actually do," he said, "Zahra is-"
"Don't call that woman's name!" screamed Appepa.
As she did, the well-lit room became consumed in darkness, the signature of Apep himself. Anubis chuckled, knowing that he had struck a nerve. Despite her powers, Appepa was still human, one easily provoked to anger.
And one name always seemed to do the trick for her.
Zahra.
Her mother.
The only name that was capable of making her vulnerable.
Humans and their sentiments, he thought with a scoff.
"Well, I've done my work," said Anubis, turning the lamps on, "happy glowering Appepa, daughter of Zahra."
"f**k off Anubis!" she yelled, hurling a spear at him.
He chuckled and with one snap of his finger, vanished.
"f*****g jackal head!" she screamed, "rile me up and leave, will you? Don't return!"
Anubis was just one of the many gods who thought it funny to provoke her to anger. She wasn't sure who she hated more, the Helians, or the gods of Egypt.
Taking a deep breath, she sighed tiredly.
Here she was, trying to heal and they seemed keener on bringing up memories she wanted to bury.
She hated her mother with a passion as strong as Ra.
She was everything Appepa promised not to be.
Weak.
Demure.
Kind.
And those were the things that led her to her death.
Was it just those things Appepa, or did you have a part to play in it?
She screamed.
The memories that will haunt her for eternity.
She hated her mother, but not more than she hated herself.
And certainly not more than she hated the kingdom of Helio.
She promised to make them pay for sure.
For every single thing they did.
