“All rise, court is now in session. The Honorable Stewart Decker presiding,” said the bailiff.
“Please be seated. We are here today for the sentencing of Jamal Green. Mr. Green, you have been found guilty of two felony counts of robbery and aggravated assault.”
Jamal Green nodded his head. Jamal had a history of mental illness and had already spent fifteen years in prison for drug-related charges. He was released from prison on parole. Jamal violated his parole for carrying a firearm, which landed him back in prison for another five years.
“Mr. Green, you are represented by the public defender, Mr. Bustamante. If the Assistant State Attorney agrees, I would like to start with Mr. Bustamante.”
“Your Honor, there is no objection from the state,” said the Assistant State Attorney.
