“Dr. Broad, the warden would like to see you.”
What did I do now? I have never seen or spoken to the warden in my life, Michelle thought to herself. She took the elevator up to the fifth floor and entered the warden’s office.
“Hello, Dr. Broad. The warden is expecting you,” said the warden’s secretary.
Michelle walked past the secretary’s desk and knocked on the door.
“Come in,” said Billy.
“Hello, Warden. I’m Michelle Broad.”
Billy got up from his desk and shook Michelle’s hand. “Great to meet you, Doc. I’ve heard wonderful things about you.”
“Thank you.”
“How long have you been working in the corrections system?”
“Ten years. I did my internship in the prison system in Miami Dade after finishing my Ph.D., and I’ve been here ever since. I’ve worked at four different facilities
