“All rise. The Honorable Kyle Smith presiding,” said the Bailiff.
“We are here for the sentencing of Mr. Clark Jones, who has been found guilty by a jury for firearm and drug possession as well as violation of the conditions of parole. The charges brought against you carry a sentence between ten to twenty years, according to the sentencing guidelines,” said Judge Kyle Smith.
Clark was represented by Anita Kushner of the Public Defender’s Office. Despite Ms. Kushner pushing Clark to accept the plea bargain, he refused to plead guilty to something he didn’t do.
Clark began to rub his hands together as he looked at the judge.
“Attorney Kushner, do you mind if we start with the assistant state attorney?”
“No, Your Honor. That’s fine with me,” responded Kushner.
