Emilia's POV
Tonight, the sky didn't turn scarlet.
It simply held its breath.
Everyone pretended that it was over. It appeared as though a sense of calm had returned.
However, I didn't think it was true. I didn't believe it for a moment.
It had been two days since Lucian's last sleep. He repeatedly sharpened his claws against a flat stone while standing outside our tent. Sparks were flying. He clenched his jaw. His eyes were unreadable, as if he had already left.
Once more, Nikolas was training in silence. His shirt clung to his skin, soaked in sweat by dawn. From the shadows, I observed him. His movements had taken on a new desperation, becoming harder and faster as though he were battling an invisible foe. He was unable to outrun it.
