Nikolas' POV
I woke up with a strange feeling that I was in a place I didn't belong. The air felt heavy as if it was holding all the things I couldn't grasp. I opened my eyes, and the morning light coming in through the window was too bright for me. I paused, not sure what was happening, as I tried to think about what had just happened.
However, it suddenly occurred to me.
I had never met her.
The woman next to the bed was looking at me with eyes that seemed to hold something I couldn't identify. I gazed at her. I should have remembered her name. I should have learned this first.
