Emilia's POV
I'm still trembling from the shock of breaking the bond, I lay in the clearing. Now the world seemed to be holding its breath, as if in anticipation. My heart wasn't racing because of the cold forest, but rather because it felt like it was sinking deeper into my bones. Something else was involved. I sensed something that I couldn't see.
It was a different moon. It shone more intensely than ever before, illuminating me with a spooky glow. It was a dazzling spotlight, not just a beam of dim light, as though the sky itself had focused on me.
