Emilia's POV
It was oppressive in the room. With Lucian's feverish body radiating fire and his skin blazing in the dim light, the air was heavy with heat. The panic made it difficult for me to think. My eyes stung from sweat, but I was unable to stop. The cold cloth did nothing to stop the burning, but I had to keep pressing it against his forehead. Every time he breathed, his body jerked violently. His body appeared to be tearing apart from within.
"Mama... it hurts."
I was not even strong enough to respond. I simply gripped him more tightly, my hands shaking, my voice hardly audible above the commotion.
