Emilia's POV
The wind roared through the trees as I drew up the narrow pathway toward Hollowreach. With each step I took, it seemed as if the world was coming in tight around me, the darkness of night pushing up against my back, pushing me on. I hadn’t been here in years, since I was a child, and I didn’t even know the weight of these twins at the time. But now? I needed them. I needed answers.
I got to where the Oracle twins lived: a clearing—two figures sitting cross-legged at the centre of a huge, elaborate circle of salt. They never blinked. Their eyes – dark, empty –fully frontal, unblinking, as if they were penetrating my very soul. They were everywhere, and it felt as though they existed outside of time; they could see the future, the past, and everything in between.
