Agnett couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the mesmerizing view in front of her. She was in awe, feeling the most special human on earth.
"Our first date." Raven watched her girl calmly but inside she was feeling as excited as fireworks. It took her whole day to finish the surprise date for Agnett.
"Did you literally make the tent all by yourself?" Agnett asked surprised and Raven nodded. It was a triangular tent which was made by three wooden poles buried under the ground and covered with multiple fabrics.
There was a little bulb hanging in the center and lots of tiny LED series hanging around it. A cozy place to sit and it was spacious enough for 2 people to lay down.
"I know it's not that good and I could have taken you-"
Before Raven could say another word, Agnett pulled her for a kiss, pouring all her happiness into it and mushing her body into hers. "Shut up. This is perfect." Agnett mumbled into her lips and Raven clutched her waist.
"Thank you." Agnett grabbed her hand and kissed it, keeping her head on her chest. Just the small gesture made Raven's heart flutter vigorously.
"It's my pleasure, Kitten." Raven kissed her knuckles back and pulled her inside the tent. It was covered from all sides so they would have their privacy from any other eyes.
Raven settled a small stool between them and served both of them dinner. "Here you go. Your cheese sandwich with the crunchy crust just the way you like it and fried rice." Raven held the spoon for her.
"How do you know I love cheese sandwiches and fried rice?" Agnett asked bewildered because she never told her about her likes.
"I kind of asked Kayden about it." She scratched her nape and Agnett chuckled.
"I hope he told you only this about me." She said having the feeling that Kayden might have told embarrassing things about her to Raven.
"Well, he also told me that you can't eat too spicy food and you're allergic to peanuts. Also, you have a thing called night hunger which makes you wake up and eat in the middle of the night." She said opening the box of pizza.
"I can't help it." She replied sheepishly.
"It's ok. I'm always ready to get you whatever you want even if it's 3 in the morning." Raven shrugged like it wasn't a big deal but Agnett felt a wave of goodness in her chest as if It was familiar.
Agnett was glad knowing Raven was trying to know more about her. She held the sandwich in front of Raven's mouth gesturing, to take the first bite. Her ears suddenly turned red but she took it eventually.
They both had their dinner happily, just like the movies and Agnett couldn't be more merrier than this. Raven was having the best time of her life because the only girl she ever fell at first sight crazily was sitting right in front of her.
"Ice cream?" Raven suggested after a while, putting a plastic container filled with vanilla ice cream on top of the stool.
"That's something you don't ask for." Agnett took a spoonful and ducked it into her mouth. Raven did the same and none of them bothered to scoop it separately.
It was comfortable like a warm blanket on a bitter winter day. Agnett couldn't keep her eyes off of Raven because right now her presence was soothing. Her smile, the way she laughed, making her eyes shut and her deep voice vibrating about silly things.
"Kitten, when will you learn to eat with manners?" Raven said, extending her fingers on Agnett's lips. She wiped the ice-cream off with her thumb and as habitual, licked her thumb.
Agnett watched her do that and carried on with eating like Nothing happened. "And when will you stop licking food off other people's faces?"
Raven looked confused and Agnett pointed to her mouth and her thumb with her eyes. Raven understood and her ears turned even redder.
"I- uh...I didn't -"
"Chill! It's alright." Agnett chuckled at her pale face and continued eating.
After having deserts, they both watched a random movie into each other's arm. It was mostly Agnett who had the focus on the screen but Raven was gaping at her for the whole time.
"Are you even watching it?" Agnett asked, catching her staring.
"Of course I'm." She replied, clearing her throat.
"Hm? So what's the name of the actor?" Agnett asked, pausing the movie. Raven tried to think but nothing came to her mind.
"Uh, Hercules?" She shrugged, making Agnett chuckle.
"No silly! Forget it." Agnett turned off the laptop and put it aside before laying back beside her girlfriend.
Raven cradled her in her arms and kept making circular movements on her back.
"I literally thought, I lost you." Agnett mumbled playing with the buttons of Raven's shirt. Raven frowned, not getting what she was referring to.
"What do you mean?" She asked, looking down at her.
"The bus accident." She replied in a low voice making Raven realize what she meant. "I was so scared that I almost jumped off after you. Just the thought of losing you...makes me lose my mind and because we didn't sort out our things then, I was feeling even more regretful."
Her words bought a small smile on Raven's lips. She knew that Agnett felt things for her that are more than just liking each other. The sad thing was that it took an accident for her to realize that Raven is an important person in her life.
"I know, me too. I thought I won't be able to see you ever again, see my dad ever again. I thought this time there's no way I'm going to make it out alive." Raven whispered looking right into Agnett's eyes when she starred up.
"I don't know what were my good deeds that God sent you in my life but I can never be more thankful than this. You won't believe me but when I saw you in the flames, I was damn sure that you're the one. And I had to have you in my life anyhow." Raven caressed her cheek with a smile which was indicating the proudness she was feeling having Agnett by her side.
Agnett felt Raven's heart under her palm, thumping in the motion that soothed her nerves. She slowly hugged her, filling the depth of her chest with her heartbeats.
"You're spoiling me." Agnett mumbled, smiling to herself and Raven chuckled.
"Who else am I supposed to spoil? I have the right to spoil my girl. " Raven whispered, kissing her cheek playfully.
Agnett leaned back on her chest and encircled Raven's arms around her stomach. Raven scooted her closer, resting her chin on her shoulder and observing their hands entangled into each other.
Agnett gently moved her fingers over her palm like she was trying to figure out the lines. "Everytime I touch your hands, they're always rough and dry. You should give them some care." She said brushing her fingers over the hard crust of the skin which was made by carrying heavy equipment and intense training.
"I try but they always end up the same." She shrugged.
"But yours is so smooth, it makes me sleepy." She giggled and caressed her palm over her cheeks. Agnett laughed.
"And I love your nail art too. Would you do mine, please?" She pouted cutely and Agnett nodded.
"Sure. I'll do it. At least I'll be able to see your nails other than in black." Agnett flattened her palm against hers, literally making herself to hide under Raven's presence.
"Thankyou." Agnett mumbled without looking back.
"Why?" Raven asked, confused.
Agnett sighed in relaxation. "For planning such a beautiful date for us." She looked back leaning her head on her shoulder and grabbed the back of her neck to pull her close and kiss her cheek.
Raven closed her eyes, cherishing the sweet warmth. "You're most welcome." She tried to peck her lips but Agnett put her finger in between.
"First of all, clear our things out about your dear ex, Margaret and who broke up first. I want both of us as clear as glass." She pulled away and sat in front of her, legs crossed. Raven sighed, preparing herself to open up about it completely.
"Fine. She was my first love." She started getting a score. Agnett tried not to make a face in annoyance but listened to her anyway.
"I met her during our school times. I was 17 till then and had a kind of bad girl image."
"What type of bad girl image? Were you an alcoholic or something?" Agnett asked, feeling her curiosity knocking her brain.
"I won't say alcoholic but yeah maybe a smoker. I was going through a big trauma at that time and one can guess I drifted off my life's path."
Agnett was surprised by her words. She never thought that Raven could do smoking because it just wasn't her vibes even though her looking hot in that was a different part inside her head. She shook her head to get rid of dumb thoughts.
"I had a bad image in school because I used to fight with the kids and break their faces until their guardians arrived at the school with the complaints, and us, ending up in the principal's office. Dad used to feel really bad in front of their parents and even grounded me for days or weeks but I never came over my habits and stayed the same. One day this new girl became a hot topic in our school and as always everyone was chattering about it like how beautiful she's, how rich her father is etc."
Agnett was so focused on her that she didn't even blink for once. She was listening her like an audiobook.
"I always minded with my own business and because everyone in the school knew about my sexuality, they used to make fun of me, mock me, tease me and even bully me for that. And this was the reason I sometimes ended up beating the s**t out of them. Once, a group of girls broke my bicycle and disassembled it. They even tore my notebooks and threw them in the sewer. That day I was frustrated as hell and I locked myself in the school's bathroom after the school was ended and didn't go back home." Raven kept staring at Agnett who had a blank expression but her eyes held sympathy for her.
"I cried my eyes out for hours until someone knocked and I heard a voice telling me that 'I know you're inside. You're sniffing too loudly.' I told the person to go away but it turned out that girl was Margaret." She glanced at Agnett again, expecting some words from her but nothing. She was patient.
"I opened the door and for the first time, I was lost in someone's eyes. She was gorgeous, beautiful, and her smile was heavenly. Even though at first I thought she might be nothing more than a spoiled brat, she proved me halfway wrong."
"I don't think that's wrong. She's brat and dared to touch what's mine." Agnett spoke up out of jealousy and Raven blinked at her.
She cleared her throat. "Since then we started to hangout. At first I was hesitant and distant but she broke through my guards and yanked me out of my depression. I started to feel calm and peaceful around her as the time went by and everything felt perfect. One day I confessed to her and we began dating. But after a couple of months, she seemed like she felt ashamed of introducing me as her girlfriend in public until we had an argument over that. I felt miserable when she told me off as a friend in front of everyone. She came back to me later on, apologizing and promising to not repeat it again but her behaviour was incurable. She became distant and ignorant towards me." Her face fell as she finished. Agnett on the other hand scooted closer to her and hugged her.
"Didn't you ask her about it?" Agnett said cautiously. Raven nodded.
"I did but the reply was always nothing until I caught her red handed in her own apartment." She averted her gaze away from her to a random place, putting the words together in her mind for an explanation.
Agnett was at the edge of losing her curiosity. She scooted even closer and made silent eye contact with her. "What happened?"
Raven took a deep breath. "I went to her apartment to give her a surprise on her birthday. But when I opened the door I was punched hard in my guts.
Agnett frowned. "What..."
"I found out that she was cheating on me with one of her friends, Daniel." Agnett looked at her in utterance as Raven stared back emotionlessly.
"When I asked her the reason behind her betrayal, she told me that she felt humiliated because she chose me, the girl who belonged to l***q community and had a bad image everywhere, as her girlfriend. She said it all on my face that how embarrassing and terrible I was for her reputation. I made her confused to question her sexuality and she never loved me at all. She used me just for pleasure."
Hearing the words, Agnett felt devastated for Raven. She was shocked that how can someone be so disgusting. She never thought that Raven was accepted as a lover just because her girlfriend needed satisfaction, not because she loved her. It pained her chest knowing how horrible and nasty Margaret was.
"I was rude and brutally honest which made people loathe me. But her arrival improved my lifestyle, developed my emotional state and helped me to get out of my depression. I thought things will be normal now and I'll be able to live with her peacefully. I was dead serious but her hard betrayal and painful words broke my dreams to ever trust someone again." Raven shrugged looking out of the tent, lost and dim.
Agnett was still processing all the information. What pained her most was that a woman like Raven, who was so pure, selfless and amazing had to go through such an unfairly failed relationship.
"I tried to be with different women, in an attempt to find love, but luck was always against me and in the end it was failure and disappointment." She shook her head and got up to head outside the tent.
Agnett was feeling guilty now, for bringing up such a sensitive topic in between their good times. She sat there unable to process all the things and thinking of a way to mend the situation.
She stood up too and slowly walked out to find Raven standing on the grass with hands in her pocket. Agnett thought for a moment before walking near her. She quietly fisted Raven's jacket like a child and put her head on her back.
"Ray, I'm sorry." She mumbled as Raven felt her back vibrating with her voice. She sighed and looked back from the corner of her eyes.
"Don't be." She pulled Agnett in front of her and embraced her in arms.
"But I'm happy too." Agnett said looking up in her eyes.
"Why are you happy? At my misery?" Raven questioned, raising her brow.
"Of course not. I'm happy because she left you and that's why I have you right now." Agnett said truthfully and Raven's heart melted. The corner of her eyes watered as she cupped her face.
"Maybe she was never meant to be with me. Trust me, the pull and affection I felt towards her is nothing compared to what I feel for you. It's beyond my previous limitations." Raven nuzzled their temples, holding Agnett firmly and feeling her warmth.
Agnett hid her hands inside her jacket, feeling content and warm. She grazed her lips over her nose and temples, feeling the closeness of their skins.
"I had a failed relationship too and guess what, maybe our past wasn't the perfect match for us. I'm glad we're together. I don't know how in such a freaking short time, I feel like I belong here." Agnett hid her face in her shirt, trying to wipe her eyes.
Raven felt sentiment too because it wasn't normal, having Agnett by her side was unusually calm and open. She wasn't scared to show her vulnerable side anymore because she knew that this girl would never abandon her. She hugged her tightly and let her emotions sink in.
"I'm sorry Ray. You had to go through so much. You don't deserve that." Agnett couldn't control anymore as tears fell from her eyes for the other girl. Raven couldn't see her cry but it was making her feel satisfied that Agnett felt her pain.
"Why are you crying? I should be the one to cry." Raven chuckled softly as she kissed her forehead.
"I don't know, It just happened. If something is wrong with you, it makes me feel bad. Anything that's related to you definitely affects me in some way." Agnett sniffed, rubbing her eyes.
Raven could swear her heart bursted in her chest. She stared at her in volatile shock. It was the first time someone cried for her after her father and it was making her fall for Agnett even harder.
"Do you even know how precious you're?" Raven murmured, touching her chin. Agnett looked up with beetroot nose.
Raven couldn't hold anymore and she kissed her with all her might. Agnett's nose bumped so hard that her world spinned but Raven's lips kept her on the ground.
Agnett held her close by the collar and squished her wet cheek against hers. She whimpered during the kiss causing Raven to pull her and hide Agnett inside her jacket. Raven was doing her best to calm her unsteady heart. She pulled Agnett inside the tent and switched off the bright bulb but left the small led lights on.
She settled her comfortably before hovering on her and kissing her jawline and neck. Agnett took deep breaths while sobbing.
"Please don't cry...please. I feel bad watching you like this." Raven mumbled between the kisses and Agnett closed her eyes in serenity.
Raven kissed her knuckles and connected their eyes. Agnett touched her lips with her fingers, smiling to herself. She kissed them one last time, still keeping her fingers in between.
"Stay with me..." Raven asked with dull eyes.
"Always." Agnett pulled her over her and secured her in arms. Raven closed her eyes, resting her head in the shoulder gap as Agnett softly rubbed her back.
As the silence fell upon them, both the hearts screamed in tenderness. They failed in their past selves, but they found their existence in each other's present.
