Chapter 66: Trust Broken and Fear Awakens
Adeline was deep in sleep when she was jolted awake by the sound of loud shouting. Disoriented, she rubbed her eyes and tried to make sense of the commotion. It was Cordelia's voice, and it was filled with anger and panic.
"Adeline! Adeline, wake up!" Cordelia's voice echoed through the apartment.
Adeline stumbled out of bed, her heart pounding with anxiety. She hurriedly put on her robe and rushed out of her bedroom to find Cordelia standing in the hallway, her face flushed with rage.
"Cordelia, what's wrong? What happened?" Adeline asked, her voice laced with concern.
Cordelia's eyes were blazing as she turned to face Adeline. "Did you bring people into the apartment yesterday?" she demanded, her tone accusatory.
