Chapter Two Blind Date
ADELINE'S POV
I Froze immediately, my heart skipped a beat and it felt like everything around me stopped moving, the whole room had gone dark and Scott was the only thing that brought light to that room. I couldn't ignore the fact he looked so gracious in the two piece gray suit he wore ,and the way his dark hair gelled backwards made him look like a perfect gentle man. he had a wide smile on which was charmingly sexy. Damn,I was getting wet.
I was lost in his stares, totally Bewitched by his handsome face that I forgot the world I was in. I watched his mouth move in slow motions like he was saying something but I couldn't hear a thing instead I was focussed on his pink lips I could hear an imaginary love song at the background,How could this man be this beautiful? Yes I used beautiful because that was what he was. Like wasn't that supposed to be a crime.
" Are you okay?" I heard him ask, holding my bag to me. I collected it immediately and bowed my head in shame not wanting to look him in the eye.
Fuckkk! I couldn't believe he was standing right in front of me especially after the erotic dream I had of him this morning,I stood upright, I had to compose myself no matter what.
"Thank you sir…I'm so..so sorry for bumping into you sir" I apologized, managing to look at him, my head was just at his shoulder level - perfect height. He smiled at me again ,my heart melted instantly.
"No,I should be the one apologizing to you. I am so clumsy because I have a board meeting to attend in the next five minutes and by the look of things I am so darn late already, so I guess I wasn't watching where I was headed " He said and I laughed unnecessarily I didn't think it was funny but all I could at that moment was laugh.
"Oh,That's totally fine" I replied smiling sheepishly,my palms are sweaty and shaky.
"Are you okay though?" He asked again noticing the way I was unsettled
I nodded affirmatively "Yes sir,I am perfectly fine…"
He smiled at me and hurriedly walked past me. I stood where I was for a few seconds smiling to myself still finding it hard to believe he just spoke to me. It felt like a dream, I breathed in and held it for two seconds before letting it out and strolled to my office to get on with the day's work.
After a few hours I rounded. Everything was up and done for the day, I was ready to go home now. The house looked so bizarre as I stepped in, it felt like someone else was around. I could see the shadow of a huge frame standing creepy at the passage. I could not see him clearly because it was dark,so I froze immediately thinking of the next action.
"Who is it?" I asked loudly at the same time trying to reach out for my flashlight that was in my handbag.
"It's Tommy," The voice responded.
I let out a sigh of relief.
"Tommy? you scared the hell outta me when did you get back from Vegas and where is Betty?" I asked, looking around.
"I just got back today,I'm sorry if I startled you, the power supply has issues so everything just kinda went off"
"Oh!How was your trip then?"
"It was Smooth,Betty won't be coming home tonight." He answered by switching on a lamp to provide light so I Could see his Round face now.
"Really ?Where did she go?"
" She needed to check out somewhere for her bridal shower"
" Without me or even you?"
"well, she didn't want to stress me , you know I just got back and my apartment, is a total wreck so I just need somewhere to crash in for the night and she says you have a date planned for tonight, I'm really happy for you Adeline"
"Date?" I asked, trying to remember if I had any occasion of that sort.
Damn! I instantly recalled the date I had planned with Elvis. A random guy I met on Tinder.
I smiled at Tommy "Thank you for reminding me, do make yourself at home please" I said heading to my room to change.

I mouthed a silent 'Thank you' . As the waiter placed the glass of wine I ordered on the table I needed to calm my nerves still i couldn't help but feel uneasy as I sat at the restaurant table, waiting for my date to arrive.
I'd been so nervous about this date. I have been on plenty of dates before, but this one felt different, more high-stakes. I was hoping that my date would be worth the effort I'd put in to get ready.
The restaurant he insisted we meet was one of the most exclusive and high-end in the city, with crystal chandeliers and white-gloved waiters. It was the kind of place where you would expect to see celebrities and high-powered business people. I had dressed up for the occasion, in a chic little black dress and heels and my blonde hair was packed in a ponytail,I wasn't wearing my glasses didn't want to give off nerdy vibes, But as the minutes ticked by, I started to get nervous. Was he not going to show up?
Just as I was about to give up and leave, a man in a crisp suit and tie walked through the door. My heart skipped a beat as he walked toward me, a smile on his face. I stood up, my palms beginning to sweat.
Elvis was as handsome as his pictures had suggested. But as we sat down and started to chat, I began to get a sense that something was off. Especially the way he talked about himself constantly, bragging about his success and his wealth.
I had to coughed out loud twice ,before he remembered we hadn't ordered something.
"Sorry about that Adele" he chuckled.
Adeline…" I corrected ,he smiled and me then called the waiter in, gesticulating with his hands. A man in his late forties dressed in a black and white corporate attire walked in.
" Good evening sir and ma,what do you care for?" The waiter asked, handing over the menus to us.
I smiled, going through the menu" I think …I would have …" before I could finish my statement he had already said.
"We would settle for some grilled chicken and lobsters with a bottlemartini" I smiled uneasily, I couldn't believe he was dictating what I should order for dinner, not even asking me what I wanted.
"Why didn't you let me pick what I want to have for dinner?" I asked, trying to keep a straight face.
"You know, women just don't have the mental capacity to make big decisions, like what to order for dinner. That's why men are always in charge." My eyes widened in shock. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
Without even thinking about it, I stood up from the table, my chair scraping loudly against the floor. "I'm leaving," I said firmly. He looked surprised, but I didn't care. I couldn't believe that he had actually said something so offensive, so misogynistic. "You're not leaving," he said looking around, reaching out to grab my arm. I pulled away, anger coursing through my veins. "I said I'm leaving," I said again, my voice trembling. "Let go of me." He hesitated for a moment, and then released my arm. "You know Women like you always end up single,Don't do something you would regret later" he said.
"Better to die single than date you and f**k you too!!" I responded by holding out my middle finger to his face storming out of the restaurant. I didn't notice when it started to rain heavily. I didn't care,I just needed to get home.
Shivering, my teeth chattering from the cold, I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to warm up. Then I heard the sound of a car horn, blaring insistently. I turned to see a man waving at me ,he wore shades,I recognized the dark hair and I knew instantly it was Scott Anderson, my boss, behind the wheel of a sleek, black sedan. The car was running, and the windshield wipers were whirring away, trying to clear the rain from the glass. Scott was gesturing for me to get in the car. I hesitated, not sure what to do. Should I get in or not?
