As I returned to the table, I could feel Hyacinth’s eyes burning into the back of my head. But I didn’t care. I’d said what I needed to say, and there was no going back. Dylan caught my gaze as I sat down, and for a brief moment, there was something in his eyes—something that told me he knew exactly what had just happened. But he stayed silent. The rest of the lunch dragged on. Hyacinth, who had been loud and clingy all morning, now seemed quieter.
