My heart leaped into my throat, and I forcefully swallowed. Through the rear view mirror, I saw Xavier's eyes. His face was lopsidedly smiling. This was fun for him.
I pretended not to know and answered. "And why does that stand the way it does? How come you believe I actually did that?
"The smell!" His eyes were gritted with distrust.
I looked into his and never took my eyes off of it. "I didn't do that at all. You really have no idea what you're talking about!After giving him a slap on my wrist, I got out of the car.
My eyes were confronted by a tall, magnificent structure, and I couldn't help but be in awe of the pace's beauty.
So this was the renowned flock of dark moons? And my mates are the four merciless Alphas who ruled the pack?
"You can get in when you're done gawking!" Xavier remarked as he passed me. "A maid will take you to your room."
One by one, they disappeared, leaving me to take in the beauty. I had taken a seat later in the room, and everything that had happened today unfolded before me. It was surreal in nature. At last, I was free of Dad's, Kayla's, and Lopez's abuse and humiliation.
It was growing dusk, and the smell of grilled meat made my stomach turn into a grumble. My stomach continued to growl even after I breathed the scent.
A voice at the door announced, "Dinner is ready," and I tensed up.
I was shown to my room earlier by the maid. "Maddie" was written on the tag that I noticed on her uniform.
My skin tingled at the prospect of dining with the four demigods. I could never make it through it.
I informed her, "I'm not hungry," and she walked away.
I felt a little abandoned the next morning when I didn't see any of the Alphas. Had they started to ignore me? following their possessive behaviour from yesterday. After eating, I returned to my room.
A sense of helplessness descended, and suddenly there was a tap on the door. The door opened and Maddie's lovely face was visible.
With a curt bow, she joined me on the bed. She bit her lip at the final part, "So, how do you find the pack and the hit Alphas?"
In my mind, my wolf became insane. "They are mine!" She croaked.
I forced a smile. "Good, I guess."
"It seems you're not much of a talker," she remarked, examining me closely. "Unfortunately, I've been assigned by the alphas it brings you up to speed about everything going on in the pack"
She stepped forward and spoke more softly. Because they are so attractive, we refer to them as the Alphas, the four archangels here. Despite being the oldest, Alpha Xavier shows little interest in girls. He just doesn't appear interested in sleeping with us, despite our best efforts."
As her words settled in, I found myself gasping for air. Does that imply that he was just interested in me? At the notion of that, my inner wolf jumped for joy.
"Next is Alpha Xander. He and Alpha Xavier are often at odds. Even though they are fierce rivals, he is a full-time playboy and is entertaining. Next up is ___."
My phone started buzzing, drowning out her words as she drifted off. I looked at the caller ID and a deep line emerged on my forehead.
"Hello?" Lopez's urgent voice finally emerged.
What might be off? Could it be something else from her stupid trucks?
I said in a tight voice, scowling at the phone. "What do you want?"
I then heard her sob silently. "Sister, I truly am sorry, Emily. I know I've been a b***h to you. I understand how difficult it can be for you to forgive me. I am aware that you might.
"Chat the crap, Lopez!" I chastised her. "What's the matter?"
She gave a sniff. It's my father. The doctor says he just has today left to live. It is dreadful. I believe you ought to visit him before he passes away."
My heart began to beat faster, two strokes every minute. I understood that my monster of a father, who treated me like a slave, wasn't worth worrying about.
However, I wasn't.
I was saddened by the idea of his passing away. What might have gone wrong out of the blue? Yesterday, he looked really healthy.
I swiftly located the car in the garage after grabbing a car key in the living room. I hurried to the shadow pack as the car's engine roared to life once I was inside.
"What did you say is wrong with Dad?" As soon as I went through the door, I asked Lopez.
With a sly smile on her lips, she sprinted past me and out the door. "Oh dear Emily , to think you could be so gullible." She laughed.
I was instantly alarmed. It seems like this insane woman was hiding something. "What are you trying to do!" I yelled.
"Have a seat, Emily and stop being such an ass!" I turned to face Dad as he chastised me from behind.
All of you are doing this! You've already convinced me to buy. What more are you looking for?" I felt the fury in my face flare up into a flame.
"How dare you address the alpha of your pack that way!?" Kayla surged at me, her voice coming out of nowhere.
I stopped her hand from slapping me across the face when she raised it. "Don't you dare!" With a growl, my eyes gleamed slyly.
She appeared surprised. Never once had I prevented her from beating me. I had always taken all of their abuse without complaining.
"Emily, pay attention. This will be the final thing I ask of you, even though I know we've all harmed you."
I said nothing, and he went on.
Could you and your sister trade places? I swear, the Martinez brothers won't even know that you two look alike."
I was having trouble understanding what my father had just said. I couldn't decide if to laugh or cry. Assist them? "Dad promised to give you the money he took from the Martinez brothers and make you his heiress," he must be teasing me. She spoke in an odd tone.
I got up and gave a quick shake of my head. "I won't do it!" I said as I made my way to the door.
As I reached for the doorknob to open it, my hair suddenly gave way sharply. I pivoted to confront Lopez. Her face was clearly marked with malicious purpose, and when I noticed that Dad and Kayla were also wearing the same expression, my heart fell.
She gave me a fierce look. "Since you won't go easily, we can jus
t make you legally disappear,” the person said.
