C H A P T E R 10

MEL’s POV

I’m glad that I had a friend before the school starts. Like, I met and knew that Kim is Ceasar’s son and he is friends with my dad. The mysterious and a little bit rude Kim that I used to know became very cheerful and open to me. It seems like we’re friends for several years. I like that kind of feeling though. I felt like I have a guy that will defend me any time.

Its too early today,like 6:30 in the morning and the ceremony for the first day of school starts at 7:00AM. I need to be early to finally meet my classmates. I mean, except for the three boys, I want to meet the others too. And just like Kim, I also want to know their abilities. I’m actually worried that what if I’m in the Maple Class but I don’t have that kind of ability? Like, how will I survive in this environment if I lack everything. Everything is still blurry for me and I need to answer this questions clearly and vividly. I can’t be in silent if I do nothing.

And since this is the first day of school, this is the first time I wear my school uniform. I find it simple but elegant in some other ways. I wear my favorite white shoes that matches my uniform paired with a little glossy lip tint, heart shaped earrings and I braid my wavy hair half-ways.

I was praising my look today because I find it cute and very student like when someone wrapped his arms on my shoulder. I turned on the other side and I saw him smiling from ear to ear.

“Seems like you’re excited to go to school today.” I said then took his hand off my shoulder. Its uncomfortable.

“No.I was just excitedly to see you.” I smirked the walk fast. The last time we had this conversation, I really had chills all over my body. His mysterious like look is just his front. Its a bubbly,fun and positive Kim lives inside his system.

He called me but nah, I didn’t look behind. We we’re like kids, I run while he chase. I was having fun when I heard Min.

“Mel!”

I run toward him and greeted him good morning.

“How did you guys get this close?” he asked confused. His right eyebrows raised then looked at me and Kim at my back.

“We’re not close.” I said. I thought of that as an alibi. Kim told me not to tell everyone that I knew about his father and if everyone knew it, I would be in danger. I don’t want to happen that to me though.

“Ah, so you don’t call that close when you’re running while Kim is chasing you?” he asked sarcastically.

“Basically, I was just chasing him because I need to ask her where is our line up? You don’t know about our line up either, right?” He’s a good liar. I mean, to mend the tension between us, he needs to assure him that we are not really into something. His ability too is good.

Out of the blue, I remembered my ability and I suddenly become sad.

“So, do you know our line up, Mel?” he asked me good thing I heard it while sulking to myself.

“Yes but no.” I said making them laugh.

“Okay, your humor is good. But let’s go, Nine will catch us up.” I know saw bunch of students going out of the dormitory and proceed to the auditorium. We went on our way and find our placards. The students’ eyes were glued on us when we line up on the Maple’s Class.

“Is it really that big deal?” I whispered at Min who’s in front of me. Min is on the first line, me on the second line then Kim on the third line. I am looking around when I saw the girl who lived beside my room. I saw her then smiled at her and finally she smiled back. I almost forgot about her. Weews.

“Oh Zel, what a coincidence?!” I heard  Kim saying that. I look back and found Kim grinning at Zel? The girl’s name and Zel was looking at him annoyed. I let my eyes roam around the auditorium and I saw Nine. I raised my hand I saw him smile. ‘Aw his precious smile.’ I thought. But it fades when he saw Zel. His eyes went down and lined up behind her. Zel turned around slowly and saw Nine looking at her. Kim tried to block my view by using his body.

“Very nice of you,Mister.” I said then rolled my eyes.

“Its their privacy, beautiful. Let them be.” he said still blocking the view and smile.

“Is this what you call privacy? Lots of students are staring at them though.” I smell fishy about this two. Are they together? My curiosity is trying to beat me up.

The mic went on and the pedagogues went on stage. They lined up in a single line facing the students.

“Today is the first day of school. I as the head pedagogue welcomes you to this new school year. I’m very happy that the number of students increased this year and that means, lots of students from this school can help everyone around us especially in the human world. Your permanent pedagogues will tell you the other details later. And as a celebration, we should light up the torch as the sign that we are now ready  to learn and face the battle.” He said then snap his hands and the fire went on the torch. I was mesmerized by that view.

“As usual, they Empress always gave us a voice message. And here it is.” The other pedagogue raised his hand and the monitor lit up.

“I’m congratulating you everyone in today’s ceremony. You are now officially the student of our school. Please be careful in using your abilities and I’m looking forward to meet you in the future. Best of luck,everyone.” The Empress’ voice sounds like music to my ear. I’m weeping and I don’t know why.

“You can go to your rooms now. Thank you and see you around.” The head pedagogue said.

We went to our rooms and I am surprised to see how big, clean and wide our room is.

“Everyone,gather around.”Our pedagogue said then we made a semi-circle quietly and quickly. I placed last since I was at the very end of  the room when the teacher said that. He was scanning our faces with a device-like when he suddenly stop and stare at me when it was my turn. He didn’t blink. He just froze at his place. It was like he saw a ghost. I waved my hand and said,”Mr?” I don’t know what to call him. He stayed at that position for almost 3 minutes. I looked at my classmates and they shrug. It only stopped when I the late comers enter.

“Mr. I’m sorry we are late.” Everyone looked at the late comer including our pedagogue. Their eyes bawled when they saw them.

“Uhm-relax guys. It was just me.” She said sassy and whipped her hair. Her companion just rolled her eyes at her.

The pedagogue looked at me again and bowed 90%.

“It’s so good to see you…” He said but murmured the last words.

“I’m sorry,Sir? I didn’t hear your last word?’ I asked awkwardly. He’s still looking at me.

As if he heard ore remembered something, he normal after that one sided staring contest.

“I’m sorry.” He cleared his throat and looked at the late comers.

“Care to explain why are you late?” He asked.

The pretty girl with a sassy vibe answered,”We hardly find the auditorium and the classroom. We are very sorry.” She said confidently.

“First day of school warning.” the pedagogue said.

I turned my eyes on Kim,Min,Nine and Zel and they were all acting strangely the moment they saw that sassy girl. Her friend or companion has her own little world. And I like that. I smiled at me but she ignored me. Now,I take my words back. She’s not nice. I don’t like her and her small world.

We took our seats and we had our introduction. I was the first one to introduce since I’m in the corner of the first row.

“Good morning everyone. I am Mel. A transfer student from hu--” “Thank you,Mel. Next please.” My pedagogue cut my words and I’m thankful for it. I was about to put my life at risk. I looked at the pedagogue and he just smiled at me.

“Kim.” he simply said. The pedagogue smiled and nod.

“Zel. I’m Zel.” she said then faced down. I noticed that she’s facing down all morning. I had to talk to her later. I want to befriend her though.

“I’m Min. The most funny and joyful creature.”He said with hand gestures. We laughed at him and we indeed need to have the class clown. The atmosphere is not so good to handle though.

“Nine at your service.” after he said that, the sassy girl clapped really hard then look at him.

Nine was calm and has a go with the flow vibe. I wonder what’s happening.

“Ash. I have water and fire as my ability.” she said with her poker face. I was literally in awe! These creatures are really really amazing.

“Lastly, the prettiest,sexiest and the most intelligent in this class. The one and only,Bella.” she said while waving her hands like a Miss Universe. I giggled but when I saw the creatures on the other table, they are so quiet like they never heard someone praised herself about that. I already had problems to face and this one is giving me a hard time figuring what happened or what’s happening.

Our pedagogue talked and I know that his talk will be the end of me.
