C H A P T E R 14

AIDA’S POV

“So she finally opened it?” I need to confirm it to Deiv since he likes to tease me around about the happenings on Mel at school.

“For the nth time Aida,yes, she finally opened it.” I can feel him roll his eyes. I don’t care as long as Mel finally found her long lost ability.

She actually took her ability on her mother. And yes,I know Mel’s mother and she’s one of us.

I took the risk to be her guardian here in the school because I know her family’s history,I am friends with both of her parents and I want to know this kid more. When she arrived, I was so excited to see her, I want to hug her but I refrain since she might think I am weird.

“Should I still give her a call,Deiv?” I am nervous and I am excited for her too.

“You can since she’s bothered about her abilities. She needs to have a proper support Aida, and you can only give that to her since you volunteered to be her guardian.” He said in one breathing.

Honestly, Deiv is the one that must be Mel’s guardian but that creature overly reacted and suggest everything, the council disapproved to be her guardian. Hence,I volunteered and they approved.

“Well thank you for the information,Mr. Deiv.” I said then laugh. I know he didn’t want to be called Mr.

“Whatever,loser.” then he hung up.

As soon as he hung up, I called Melody.

“Aida! Thank goodness you called me.” I heard her scream my name and a relief. Hearing her voice again makes my heart skip a bit. This kid is really like her mom.

“How are you,Mel?” I asked her smoothly as if I know nothing about her.

“Aida! I finally opened my ability.” then I heard her sob.

“Are you crying?”

“Yes,No. I mean, yes but no.” Clever and cute.

“How are you feeling right now,hun?”

“I am happy that at last, I an like the students here. I don’t need to cover my leaf and lie about others asking me about my ability but at the same time, devastated.” she said while sobbing. I can feel her pain. I didn’t talk and I let her finish.

“Honestly, while I was watching the scenarios while my pedagogue,Mr.Deiv is talking, I am happy and sad. The mixed emotion that I feel when the evil twin killed their father, I really cried in that part and I guess, I don’t know there’s something that tells me that I have to know more. My mind is like a puzzle Aida. I feel so restless.” Oh,poor Melody. She doesn’t have to feel this.

“Also,I am curious if why can’t I see the Empress’ face? Its from the beginning till the end, I can’t see her face.” she said then I hear a stomp. I guarantee that she’s stomping while talking to me. Releasing her anger and feeling of defeat.

“It takes time,Mel. You must know how to handle and control your ability. In that way, you may know the pros and cons of it. It is devastating of you don’t know any of it,Mel.  Just calm yourself for now and let time take you to where you belong.” I said giving her the assurance that its all fine.

“To where I belong?” she asked with a hoarse voice.

“Your dad let you to go in the Realm because its not only for your safety but to uncover your true self,Melody. But as I said, do not force yourself, it all takes time.” Melody maybe an obedient girl but sometimes she is hard headed. Just like her mother.

“Are you sure it will be all okay,Aida?” she asked.

“Yes, and by the way, if your head hurts, go see the physician in the infirmary. You should get checked since it is your first time having it.” Every first-timers must be very careful of everything and this also applies to having the ability.

“I am okay--”

“No, I will tell your teacher to get you check.” I cut her words and I can say that she truly has her mother’s attitude. Hard headed!

She sighed and said,”Fine, I will go now.”

I smiled and chatted Deiv to check her for me. Deiv replied and said,”get her a nanny,Aida,not me!” “I laughed  a little and said,”I’ll tell this to her mother, you’re complaining!” after a split second he replied,”kidding. >.<”  All I do when I’m chatting or talking to Deiv is to laugh at him.

“Anyway, have fun at school,Mel. I’ll be waiting for your return,soon.”Yes, I am waiting for her return.

“Wha--” I hung up. I might get a little scold from her mother who is patiently and lovingly look at her from her crystal ball.

“I am happy for her.” she  said.

“You should be.”

“How is she?” she asked me with her eyes eager to know the truth.

“She is fine and I told her to go to the infirmary to get checked.”

“Thank you,Aida.” then she hugged me.

“When will you go and see her?” I asked her causing her to get stiffed.

“I’m afraid she might not like me when she knows the truth.” she said longingly.

“I bet not. Knowing her,Richard raised her a good child.”

“You think so?” this time she looked at me with happiness.

“Yes.” I assured her.

“When the right time comes, I will reveal myself to her.” she said then going back to her seat.

“When’s the right time though?” I asked.

“I don’t know but not now” she smiled then disappear. I took a heavy sigh and went to my office. Mel,should receive the leaf when she turned 18 but someone gave ‘her’ the threat that ‘they’ will kill Melody. But the timing is too good, Richard should receive an award. And thinking about Richard, I miss my husband. I miss him,truly. We never saw each  other for like 20 and more years. But I didn’t complain since this is how we show our loyalty to the Empress. Dawn has come and I must give myself a warm bath and a good heavenly massage. Resting is life.
