“There’s no escape for you now, Ryder,” Carter spoke with disdain. He continued, “You’re surrounded. I hope you didn’t think I’d let you walk away after humiliating me last time.” I exhaled slowly, rolling my shoulders as I sized up the men one by one. I shifted my attention back to Carter, then I turned back to the four men in front of me standing like they wanted to execute me. “So, this is the infamous Dominion Syndicate?” I asked as I cracked my knuckles. “The most feared mercenary group money can buy?” I scoffed. “I expected more.” The leader of the group finally smirked. That was the only reaction he gave. His men, however, bristled at my words. Their fingers twitched; they were ready to strike but still waiting for Carter's command. Carter’s smugness faltered, then he sneered.
