Upon hearing that Eleanor wasn’t breathing, I ran toward my brother’s house, leaving Delilah behind. As I ran, fragments of the past rushed back into my mind—the first time Eleanor nearly died. Back then, Vinie had shown me a bottle similar to the one I’d just found. It couldn’t be a coincidence. After a while I reached the house, the front door was wide open. I rushed inside, I was looking around the room. Relief washed over me when I saw Eleanor on Elizabeth’s lap. She was awake now, though she looked pale and weak.
