Just as I was about to make my move, a sharp voice echoed from inside. “Let him in.” The guards exchanged looks before they stepped aside. I didn’t hesitate. I pushed past them and hurried inside. The moment I entered, the stench of blood filled my nose. The air was thick with the scent of iron, sweat, and something rotten. It was a single room with an overhead light flickering, casting a shadow on the walls. Then, I saw my brother Vinie. He was tied to a chair in the center of the room, his arms were bounded behind his back, his shirt was torn and soaked in blood. There were bruises marred on his face, there were cuts lining his jaw.
