Anthony’s POV
She’s perfect. Her long hair is so distracting, I just want to run my fingers through it. I need to know more about her.
We were in second period, although I wanted to walk with Lyla to class, those two wolves took her from me. The wolf named Emma pulled Lyla out of the seat as the bell had rang. I could hear her tell her, “let’s go, I have something I need to get. Hurry.”
I followed them to where their lockers were, the boy wolf Michael was standing beside Lyla as Emma stood in front of her. I decided I would listen in on what they were saying.
“Is that the guy you spilled your drink on?” Emma sounded angry.
“Yeah. Why? Do you know him?”
“Lyla, I think you should stay away from him.” How dare she tell my mate to stay away from me. I could rip her throat out.
“Why?” I could hear Lyla’s heart accelerate.
“He’s nothing but a piece of s**t. That’s why. So stay away from him you hear me” So now the boy wolf speaks.
Lyla turned around, I could see anger on her face. “Who the hell are you to tell me who I can and can’t talk to?!” She was definitely angry, I could feel her anger course through me. This bond was strong, only way to complete it was to taste her blood.
“Lyla, we both care about you and only want what’s best for you.” Emma said, I could hear concern in her voice now.
“What has gotten into both of you? I’m not a child.” She slammed her locker and shoved past Emma.
She was strong, if only she knew how strong she could be. I began walking towards the second period, I was avoiding eye contact with the two wolves. Just my luck, Michael grabbed my arm, making me turn around to face them. Both their eyes were gold.
“What the hell are you doing back here leech?” Michael growled at me.
“Since when do fleabags like you care about what I do?” I said as I got I'm in front of his face.
“Stay away from her. You’re kind only likes to kill.” I turned around to see Emma just looking at me with blank expression.
“I wish I could, angel. But I can’t. I’ve been looking for her for a long time.” I said looking her right in the eye as she growled at me.
“I know. She doesn’t even know she’s a witch. She can’t help you with that stupid portal” How the hell does this mutt know why I had been looking for an ‘Alonso’ descendant? Wait. Now I’m beginning to recognize this shewolf. A Blackwood.
“Emma Blackwood.” Her eyes rose to meet mine, I could see the gold shimmer against her green eyes. “There’s only one werewolf family that knows of the portal. And that would be the Blackwood family.” I said I walked around her toward the the second period classroom.
“Your mother was Cassandra Blackwood, yes?” I could see her eyes begin to water as I said her mother’s name.
“Look. I don’t want to hurt Lyla.” I said confidently.
“You only want her for the portal. There’s other vampires that want to kill her for what her family has done.” What other vampires? This angered me.
“Who?”
“Why do you care?” Michael spoke up.
I walked closer to them, feeling I shouldn’t say out loud about Lyla. “Lyla is my mate. I can’t hurt her. To hurt her would be hurting myself.” The look of surprise filled their eyes.
“You can’t let anybody know!” Emma said quickly.
I nodded in agreement and turned around.
“I still don’t trust you. But if you’re telling the truth about Lyla, I’ll trust her.” I heard Emma in a lowered voice. I continued walking to class.
Spanish. Something I’m quite fluent in. As I walked in, I could hear the teacher greeting everybody.
“Hola, buenos dias. Bienvenido de nuevo a clase.”
Hello, good morning. Welcome back to class.
She was a middle aged lady, who wore glasses and bright red lipstick. She turned around as I walked in and I felt this sudden aura.
“Vos! Quid tu hic?!” You! Why are you here?! She whispered under her breath in Latin and glared at me while I walked in. A witch. Her name was Lucinda Gomez, she was more of a herbal witch.
“Nolo tribulationis, Lucinda.” I don’t want trouble, Lucinda.
She nodded and then proceeded gathering her paper together. I could hear her heart accelerating. I’ve have such bad encounters with many witches. I sat down one seat over from Lyla, she was writing in her notebook.
“Okay, today class we will start off with a small project. We will begin by creating our own portfolio, so come to the front a grab scissors and paper and whatever else you need.” Lucinda’s instructions caught the attention of Lyla. She raised her head and soon looked over at me and smiled. Then the door opened and in came Michael, who went to sit by Lyla.
She was smiling at him, why would she be interested in him? Doesn’t she know she’s mine? I got up and went to the front to grab the supplies I needed, I didn’t even make eye contact with them as I walked by, although I could feel her eyes on me.
I sat back down and began the work to keep my mind of her. How was I going to make her mine? The full moon was getting closer and I needed her magic. No other witch could undo what Sienna Alonso had done the night my mother disappeared.
“s**t!” I didn’t need to turn around to know what happened. I could smell it. Blood. As I looked up, hunger and anger hit me.
“Are you okay?” Michael was by Lyla’s side, holding her hand. She had cut herself trying to cut through cardboard with a knife. I could feel the burning sensation in my throat as I smelled her blood. So sweet, I clenched my jaw as my fangs began to bare. The anger grew inside me as I saw Michael touching her, nobody could touch her except me.
I wasn’t going to continue watching. I got up from my chair and walked towards her, grabbing napkins along the way. I took Lyla’s hand from Michael, the moment we touched the burning went away. I helped her up to walk to the sink to rinse the blood away, I felt in control holding her.
She was just looking at me as I cleaned the wound. I grabbed a band-aid from the first aid kit and wrapped her hand.
“Thank you.” She said in a low voice. I guess the silence had to be broken somehow. I was upset with her for letting another man take care of her. But she doesn’t even know she’s mine.
“You’re welcome, love.” I could see the blood rush to her face as she blushed. It made me smile. I don’t know what came over me. I kissed her.
