THE SECRET IS OUTLek’s morning sickness stopped in late September, and she didn’t begin to show until November. However, even then only her friends knew that it was not just a question of having gained a few pounds because of her change in lifestyle. She continued to work hard and for long hours, but the only thing that no-one could persuade her to do was drink alcohol. Sometimes, when she was feeling especially tired, Beou would put her in the cashier’s chair ‘to train her up’, but other than that, she would accept no concessions for her condition.
