Chapter 2

"Relax, Ms. Vadar," the nurse said, her voice soothing yet firm. "You should take it easy." Angelina's thoughts were a whirlwind, memories of the blast and Christiana's icy stare rushing back. "Dylan..." she murmured, her voice hoarse. "Your bodyguard is okay," the nurse reassured her. "He got a concussion but is expected to fully recover. He's in the next room." Angelina felt a wave of relief, mixed with a strong urge for retaliation. Christiana Bale had started a conflict, and Angelina wasn't the type to retreat. She needed to assess the impact on Vadar Enterprises and figure out when she could return to work. The nurse, as if understanding her concerns, added, "The doctor will come soon to talk about your health. Please, try to calm down." Angelina nodded without really paying attention, already thinking about what she should do next. She knew she had to speak with Sophia, understand the current situation, and figure out how to fight back. Christiana had turned things into a personal battle, and Elena was ready to do the same. A quiet knock on the door signaled the entrance of Dr. Patel, a woman in her forties with a gentle gaze. “Ms. Vadar, I’m Dr. Patel. You had a slight head injury and some small wounds from the blast. We want to monitor you here for at least 24 hours.” Elena's face became stern. “I can’t stay here for that long. I need to manage my business and handle my adversaries.” “Your well-being is the most important thing,” Dr. Patel softly insisted. “I know you’re worried, but you won’t be able to help anyone if you don’t first take care of yourself.” Before Angelina could say more, the door opened once more, and Sophia entered, looking a bit messy but resolute. “Ms. Vadar, we need to have a conversation.” Dr. Patel looked at them and nodded. "I'll give you a few minutes, but please remember to rest." After the doctor left, Elena focused on Sophia. "What happened?" Sophia sighed, pulling up a chair next to the bed. "The explosion caused a lot of damage to the lobby and the first few floors. The security footage shows Christiana Bale planning the whole attack. The board is really upset, and the media is all over it." "What about Dylan?" Elena asked, her voice softer. "He's stable but unconscious. The doctors are keeping a close eye on him," Sophia replied. "We were lucky. It could have been much worse." Angelina nodded, thinking quickly. "We need to fight back. Show Christiana that she can't just do this and get away with it." "I've already boosted security and started managing the situation with the media," Sophia mentioned. "However, we must be cautious. Christiana is waiting for us to retaliate. We need to plan wisely." Elena's eyes squinted. "Call an urgent meeting with the board. We must present a strong, united appearance and decide our next step. Also, set up a secure call to Dylan's room. I need to speak with him." Sophia agreed, looking determined. "I'll handle the preparations. Meanwhile, concentrate on getting better. We can't afford to have you out of action." Angelina reclined, her thoughts racing with strategies and counter-strategies. Christiana Bale had made a serious error by targeting her directly. Angelina would demonstrate the consequences of challenging a Vadar. But even as she planned to get back at someone, she felt a persistent unease. She quickly looked at the clock on the wall. "But, it's not time yet. Why do I feel like this?" Angelina wondered to herself. As she held her stomach, she started shouting in pain while a small amount of blood came out, "Doctor! Doctor! Help me!"
