As we are floating in the blue
I am softly watching you.
Your eyes betray what burns inside you…
- Woodkid
Suddenly, it doesn’t seem that this is happening fast. Suddenly, it doesn’t seem that I could have my heart broken. Suddenly, all I care about is being in his arms. I fall and fall and fall in love with him. Deeper and deeper my ocean of love goes.
“No, I want you. Please, please, erase what he has done to me.” I cry.
The rest of the night is a mixture of sweat, moans, whimpers, cries and love. He does erase what David has done to me. He is perfect at erasing. My ace.
“Wake up, baby.” He kisses my nose, my cheeks, my eyes.
“No, let’s sleep more.” I hug him with my eyes still closed and then I feel his clothes. My eyes fly open.
“What’s going on? What time is it?” I start panicking; I have to go to work.
“Don’t panic, it’s only 8. You have time to get ready for work.” He kisses me again and I use all of my willpower not to beg him for more. The night flashes in my mind. Him taking me to his bed, him undressing me, him smelling me and me touching him, exploring him. I had no idea it could be this pleasurable, this gentle. I close my eyes.
“Someone is remembering something.” He grins and kisses my neck. “You are blushing.” Then he kisses down and down to my naked body…
“Do I look acceptable?” I ask him as I stand in front of the mirror. “I’m wearing the same dress, I hope no one notices.”
“I want everyone to notice. You are mine.” He hugs me from behind. “We look good together.”
“How can we look bad if you are this handsome?” I look into his eyes. All I see is love. Even if he doesn’t say the words to me, I know he loves me and I know it’s as strong as my own. I will wait till he’s ready to tell me.
“How can we look bad if I have the most gorgeous girlfriend in the world?” He says and I know he means it. The way he sees me makes me question how I see myself. Do I really deserve all the self-criticism I throw at myself every day? He knows the worst about me and he’s still with me. Does that make him a wonderful person or me deserving of something like that?
“Let’s go have breakfast. Will an omelet work for you?” He asks.
“Yeah. Sure. Do you want me to make it?”
“No, you’re a guest. Enjoy.” He says and kisses my hand. Then he leaves the room. I am happy.
Watching Alexander cook is something. He is not very experienced, but he does everything with grace.
“Ace, can I ask you something?”
“Shoot.” He says.
“What exactly did you tell Arthur that day?”
“Nothing much. I saw him as he was leaving the centre and I asked him if he’s making progress. Then he asked who I am and I said I am your boyfriend. He said he didn’t know you had a boyfriend and I said he should keep that in mind. Why are you asking?”
“Well, he wanted to talk to me before our lesson yesterday. He said that he never intended to make a move on me and then apologized. I thought you’d said something rude to him.”
“I didn’t. Do you think he’s going to cause problems?” He says as he takes the omelet off the stove.
“No, maybe I’m overreacting. Alex, what were you doing yesterday after work?” I know he dismissed the question yesterday and it has been on my mind since.
“You are never going to let that go, will you?” I pout at him and he laughs. “I was with Miriam.”
“What?” He left me for her? “Why?”
“See, I knew you would react this way. That’s why I didn’t want to tell you. She was depressed and wanted to talk. We talked and that’s it.”
“What did you talk about?”
“She wanted to know why I don’t call her back when I drop her calls and refuse to meet.”
“Oh. You drop her calls?”
“Yeah, I’ve been too busy to deal with her recently.”
“Did you tell her about me yesterday?”
“No. She was too stressed. I thought it would just hurt her more.”
“You don’t have to care for her that much, you know.” My appetite and my good mood are gone down hill.
“You don’t have to be so jealous of her. She’s not a threat.”
“Okay. I will walk to my workplace. Thanks for the breakfast.” I say and head for the door. In an instant, he’s in front of me.
“You don’t get to just run. Go back and have your breakfast. Now.” Oh! The bossy Alexander is back. I kind of missed him, but I’m too pissed off to admit it now.
“You don’t get to order me around while keeping in touch with your exes.” I almost yell at him and regret it as soon as I do it.
“Come here.” He scoops me up neglecting all my cries and shouts and walks towards the table. Then he sets me down on the chair and takes my hand.
“I know this worries you Sarah. I know you hate it. Believe me; I also hate any man who comes into contact with you. But I don’t want to hurt her. Whatever it is now, she was my girlfriend once and I care for her. Give me some time. I will tell her and I will break every connection we have. Okay?” He kisses my hand.
“Okay. A week.” I hate that he cares for her feelings this much but I also love him for his kindness.
“Good girl. Now eat.” I comply and he loves it when I do. “Did you meet Lana?”
“She’s awesome!” I grin. “I love her.”
“Good. Someone is able to keep up with her then.” I laugh.
“I know you love her, don’t start it.”
“I adore her.” He says the words so fondly it makes me sad they are not about me. I am beyond unreasonable.
“Don’t tell me you are jealous of Lana.” He mocks me and I smile.
“No. Of course not.” He laughs.
“Let’s go baby, or we’ll be late.” He gets up and takes his car keys out of the round vase.
“Are we going to leave the table like this? Let me clean up first.”
“No, Jasmine will do it.” He says nonchalantly.
“Who the heck is Jasmine?” I ask him with a raised brow. He looks at me and grins.
“Jasmine is my housekeeper. She comes here three times a week and today she will.”
“Oh, okay then. Let me just unplug my phone from the charger.” I tell him and leave for my phone. I can hear the self-absorbed bastard still laughing at me. Oh, I love him.
I take my phone and retrieve the charger from the plug. I saw him taking it out of his nightstand. I open the top drawer of it. Suddenly, the cable slips out of my hand and falls to the ground. As I crouch to get it, I notice something shiny under the bed. I reach for it. It’s an earring in a form of an angel wing. Maybe someone has lost it.
“Alex, I found this under the bed. Maybe it’s Jasmine’s.” I hand him the earring. He eyes it and seems he doesn’t recognize it. Then he drops it into the vase.
“She will find it here. Now let’s go.” He takes my hand and we leave.
Outside the building, Yerevan smiles at me differently. Things have changed.
