The party was wild. Alyssa didn’t really want to be there, but she wasn’t going to leave Andie behind. She felt out of place though. She knew everyone there, but she felt like she was beyond them. Not that she was better than them, just that she’d moved on from high school.
Jake wandered around the party with her, not leaving her side. He didn’t touch her, but he was a solid presence that she was constantly aware of. His eyes scanned the area every second, taking in his surroundings. Alyssa wondered what Jake saw when he looked around. Kids years younger than him, half of them hanging all over each other.
