Morgan A light breeze brought the chill of late autumn along with it, but the beautiful setting sun illuminated the garden and brought out the warm hues in the orange and ochre leaves around me. The end of the season was approaching and I intended to make the most of the last good weather before winter restricted the few places I was allowed to go. It would be better if Byron wasn"t standing guard at the garden entrance, but at least he didn"t try to talk to me like some of the others. I hated trying to make small talk with the people who were essentially my jailors. I wasn"t naive enough to think that they had no idea what they were getting into when they signed up for the job.
