"Because she is my friend and I do not want you hurting my friend!" I yell at my father as he kicks Nikki again. I cannot believe that he would do this at her ball, where somebody could walk in at any moment. Nikki looks broken and bloody curled up in a ball on the floor. Earlier I had noticed that both her and my father were missing from the ballroom, so I went to find them.
