Chapter 2-2

2155 Words

Jake interrupted Caleb’s train of thought by changing the subject entirely and telling him that Jenna’s family was having a celebratory dinner for them Saturday night. “I’d like for you to come,” he said. As Jake told Caleb about Saturday’s dinner plans at a restaurant in Lincoln Park that Jenna’s father co-owned, Caleb tuned out. The thought of spending Saturday night hanging out with his brother and his brother’s future in-laws wasn’t appealing at all, but he figured he’d agree to go because he didn’t want to disappoint Jake. Plus, it wasn’t like he had anything else to do Saturday night. “So, six on Saturday? Will that work?” Jake asked. “Sure.” “I didn’t know if you had plans or something.” “I don’t.” Jake hesitated before asking if Caleb was seeing anyone. Caleb shook his head.
