Chad had this ache inside of his soul. It had been fourteen months since he connected with his mates mind. He missed their conversations and even her feisty attitude. The way She was always challenging him.
He walked out of the darkened forest of tall pine trees and walked towards her.
There she was, broken hearted, looking at him with her stormy grey eyes. Her dark drown hair up in a messy bun. She looked pale, like she hadn’t been eating and she definitely hadn’t been sleeping. She looked worse than he expected.
“Sunny” Chad softly whispered as he approached her. He had used her nick name that her mother gave her. She always said Rain was her sunshine.
“Don’t call me that! You have no right to call me that!” Rain snapped. ““You left! I needed you and you left!” Rain said in a raspy voice while tears streamed down her face. How dare he? What makes him think he could just come in and out of her life? She didn’t know his whereabouts for this past year and here he is at her mother’s funeral.
Chad tried reaching for her to offer some comfort but Rain stepped back. Still crying she turned around and walked towards her car.
“Sunny, babygirl, please!” Chad called out to her while trailing not far behind. Rain got into her car and sped away. She couldn’t even look in her rear view mirror, afraid that seeing him would make her stop the car.
Rain pulled into her driveway and sat there for a moment, trying to process what just happened. Her mate, the one she’s meant to be with had just walked back into her life. She looked up and saw her best friend Jane staring down at her from her bedroom window, on the second floor. Jane had closed the curtains, trying to not get caught but it was too late.
Walking into the house Rain went straight to the basement, which her best friends had turned into a small studio apartment just for Rain. She had a kitchenette, a full bathroom and of course a bedroom/living room area. They had welcomed her into their home a year and a half ago when her mother went missing. Jane and Jake were all Rain had left in this world. She laid on her bed in a ball and just cried.
* “baby I’m here. Open your window please.”
Her heart beat raced hearing him again. Her own heart, a traitor to her mental health. Rain had no more fight in her tonight. She just wanted to be alone.
"Stop please. I just don't have it in me right now" she sent out to him. Her world was so broken she didn't know from left to right or up and down.
"let me just sit with you, I won't talk or ask for anything. please" the plead Her heart beat raced hearing him again. Her own heart, a traitor to her mental health. Rain had no more fight in her tonight. She just wanted to be alone.
"Stop please. I just don't have it in me right now" she sent out to him. Her world was so broken she didn't know from left to right or up and down.
"let me just sit with you, I won't talk or ask for anything. please" the plead felt urgent. Her energy drained more with every word. I surrender she thought to herself.
"It's open" she sent to his mind before laying back down and closing her eyes. Her body felt heavy and she felt sick to her stomach. She heard Chad climb into her room and take his shoes off. Thank God because the last thing she wanted to do tomorrow was vacuum her carpet. She sighed and opened her eyes. There he was, now sitting on the floor next to her. She could smell his cologne, musky, manly and a hint of sweet. Chad lifted his hand and softly pet head. Rain was just to tired to tell him to f**k right off and that he lost the privilege to touch her, to be honest it felt comforting, no matter how much she hated him she just needed this right now.
