Emilia was awakened by the worried murmurs coming from her father and mother who would sit at the end of her bed sifting through medicine and doctor's notes as they would often do on school days that Emilia was expected to show up, but due to a rare illness that seemed to only find itself appearing generations down the line in most old Royal Bloodlines of Ruxmar's Noble District, of which there were only five left, she would often sleep in until afternoon and could do not much else but wake up caked in sweat, and sometimes warm blood from her nose, but this time was different, for once she had woken up in the morning, as was evident by the shining 10:37 AM that shined from her digital clock, still though until at least an hour passes her legs would not move, and she would be stuck in bed.
When Emilia sat up her parents immediately turned from their sifting of pill bottles, and hugged their daughter with tears in their eyes letting out their worried sobs before letting go.
Her father, Emmen, was a renowned healing mage known for his vast antidotes that would keep most of Ruxmar cured of all plagues that might affect them, as his father and even his grandfather did before, he was a muscular and lean man despite being a mage due to his early active boyhood, who had a sharp and very commanding looking face, and sometimes hugged Emilia a little too tight than her fragile form could always handle.
Emmen: "Finally you're awake I was beginning to wonder if the curse had taken you away, but it seems that you might be finally unlocking your true potential!" he said with hardy laughter following to lighten the mood.
Her mother, Milly, was a much smaller and much more humble person with bright rosy cheeks, and a soft caring face, that could usually be seen with a soft smile on it, she worked as a general goods peddler and had fallen in love with her father after his endless flirting that he would give to her whenever he went to her family's store to buy goods.
Milly: "Yes, finally some hope that the curse may end, and perhaps all of your friends are showing better signs as well." she said with a hopeful smile.
The so-called "curse they were speaking of refereed to the rare illness that would leave her bedridden, the reason it was referred to as a curse was that all who have it die before the age of 18, unless they can find their true potential that can lead someone to become the most powerful mage in their category of magic, and the friends they spoke of were a total of four, each another kid in another royal family line, affected by the same illness as her, leaving them to become best friends as most kids their age would stray away from them in fear of somehow contracting the disease for themselves, even though such a thing was impossible.
Emilia on the other hand was a direct contrast between her parents, being a short girl even for her age of sixteen, and pale as the light that you see hit a white wall from a window being directly hit by the sun, and had long dark brown hair that would reach her elbows, she normally wore black clothing with simple designs, if they had any designs at all, and dressed like a normal middle-class child, despite her being from a rich noble family of Ruxmar, she had bright almost lime green eyes, and finally, she usually wore light makeup to try and make her face look less ghostly and more alive, so that she doesn't appear "freaky" to anyone who would see her around town.
Emilia: "Well Mom, Dad, I'm starting to feel a little better if that is a sign of anything though it may just be the numbing feeling all the pills you have us take incur so that we don't wake up screaming in pain like we used to," she said with a rare, but gentle smile.
Her Mother winced at the memory that the child provoked of the days the child would wake up screaming until her voice was hoarse, which had prompted her father to make medicine that dulls the pain of the curse that can be taken in an easy liquid form for when the children wouldn't wake up.
Emmen: "On a... lighter note, I've made a wonderful breakthrough on the medicine for you kids, pills that can dampen the morning affects, like the lower half paralysis, and could have you all wake up a little earlier, and seeing as you are awake at this time of day, it seems to be working, and so today I want you to go into the Noble square and meet up with your friends and give each of them one of the bottles to test out and keep if it works for them," He said with his usual overly ecstatic hand motions.
He often used these hand motions when excited about his work, before handing her four pill bottles, each labeled for one of the kids, as she took them eagerly.
Emilia, now noticing the numb feeling that would often plague her lower body after awakening, was no longer there, she slowly dropped down off the bed and did a little twirl, and feeling excited she ran out the room, down the stairs, and straight out of the door of the house to go meet with her friends.
