Rex's POV
I stormed off from my mate with clenched fist and gritted teeth as I tried so hard to control my wolf who was already out of control. In order to clear my head, I rushed to the sports arena to get some fresh air where her scent hadn't settled in today.
There was a tough struggle between my wolf and myself, a struggle I had been trying to control since earlier today. As soon as I stepped into the sports arena, I kept my hands fisted, closed my eyes and took in deep breaths, to calm myself, but it only got worse. It was like another beast was growing inside of me.
"Down boy!" I yelled out in frustration to my wolf whom I thought was responsible for my predicament, but he didn't respond to me. I knew something was wrong with him because I no longer felt his presence. My hands were shaking uncontrollably and my legs were getting weaker as I dropped to my knees.
My canines began to itch and I felt an excruciating pain that caused me to hiss loudly. Sweat streamed down my face, my eyes darting around in panic as I panted like an injured animal. Suddenly, I felt my canines begin to elongate, causing me to scream out. The pain I felt was unbearable even for an alpha's son.
When I felt less pain, I glanced down at the polished wooden floor to see what seemed like a 19mm long canine. My eyes widened in shock as my arm slowly moved towards it. I wanted to check if it was real.
"s**t!" I voiced out in anger and frustration, "these stupid canines cut me." I spoke with a frown on my face as I watched the blood that trickled down my finger. I would lie if I were to say it wasn't enticing, I found myself moisting my dried lips with my tongue as my eyes moved simultaneously with the red liquid. A kind of hunger I had never felt before hit me and the more I tried resisting it the weaker I got. I needed to feed because everywhere around me was spinning and I also needed to understand what was going on.
"Charlie, I'm at the sports arena, help me," I spoke in a whispering tone through my back before everything went dark.
My ears picked up lady-like voices and light footsteps as I slowly opened my eyes to find a pretty nurse attending to me. She seemed so surprised and excited as she ran out the door, leaving me in awe. I looked around and immediately knew I was in the school's clinic. The mint green and white coloured wall quickly rang a bell.
I laid on the bed with my arms on my forehead as I thought about what happened in the cafeteria
"Did Charlie see me that way?" I asked myself with fear when a mature voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
"Son?" My father, Alpha Mordecai, called out in a questionable manner. He looked worried and from his uneven breathing, one could tell he had run down to this place. It was the first time in years my father acted with care, which surprised me.
"What happened to you?" He voiced out again, this time with a serious but concerned tone which got me nervous. I didn't know what to tell him as I gulped down the nervousness I was feeling. Thankfully, the nurse came in just in time to save my life.
"He's fine now, Alpha. He passed out due to a low blood count, but with enough rest and his medication, he'll be back on his feet."
I watched as my father nodded to the words of the nurse and I could tell how disappointed he was right now.
"Where's Charlie," I asked to ease off the tension in the room,
"He's outside sir, shall I ask him to come in?" The nurse replied to me and I nodded positively.
My father gazed at me one last time, informing me that he was about to leave before quietly walking out of the room.
"Man, you got me scared," Charlie spoke with his usual cheerful tone the moment he entered the room as he took a seat beside me.
"Does your mate know about this? Did she do this to you?" He asked again and my forehead lines increased. I turned my face to the other side, showing I didn't want to talk about her.
"What happened, man?" He asked, showing concern,
"Tell me!" He pestered, causing me to lash out.
"She's nothing I expected and my father would reject her!" I yelled out, obviously pained even though I tried to hide it.
I noticed Charlie kept quiet for a while but my question made him raise his lowered head,
"What about Christine?"
"Well…. Guess who found his mate today…" Charlie grinned happily, his normal happy mood showed up again.
"She accepted you?" I asked with a puzzled look, still trying to figure out the possibility. Christine was a determined person and would do anything to get what she wanted.
"Yeah bro, we even…"
"Spare me the details, did she ask for anything?" I interrupted to quickly get to the root of the matter.
"Umm," Charlie placed his hands on his jaw as he thought of what happened,
"She asked about your mate." Charlie finally spoke, causing my eyes to widen. I was still calm, there was something else I needed to confirm.
"Did you tell her about Amy?" I asked with keen interest. I knew I said I wanted nothing to do with her but she couldn't survive the wrath of Christine.
"Yes and chill out men, Christine won't hurt her, she's my mate, remember?"
His answer caused me to be unstable again. My eyes instantly switched to their red colours as I grabbed Charlie by the neck, raising him up to the sky.
"How could you? How could you put her in danger!"
