Hamlet

760 Words
I sat there on the couch watching Breaking Dawn as it played on the t.v., it was such a good movie, the girl Bella reminded me of me, but she had more of a backbone than I ever did.  Even as a cheerleader I was always the shy one, the quiet one, the girl who didn’t have all the football players drooling over her. I mean don’t get me wrong I dressed and tried to act as if I was one of them. When I had finally scored a date with Mathew the head football player I was overly excited to go, but looking back now I should have saw all the red flags, I should have jumped out the car and went home instead of going to that party!! thinking to myself.  I felt my phone start to vibrate on the couch next to me, I couldn’t believe it! Bryant actually texted me, I didn’t think he would! He doesn’t come across to me as someone who is technically interested in school, I mean he is constantly hanging out in the parking lot with his friends skipping classes, so why all of a sudden is he so eager to help on a test?  I looked down at my phone and replied back to him telling him to come over here, I mean it was quiet since my parents were out and I knew we could get more studying done. I walked into the kitchen to get the table cleared off so we had a place to study, then it hit, did I just invite a guy to my house?!  What had come over me to actually invite some strange guy to my house?!  I yelled loudly in my head, I quickly turned around facing the living room as I heard a knock at the front door. I slowly walked over and opened it. He stood there with a wide smile on his face holding his english book, a notebook, and pencil, greeting me with a smile. I looked at him as I held the door open inviting him in, he followed me through the living room into the kitchen area an took a seat at the table.  “I can’t believe you watch that stuff, '' he said with a slight chuckle. I looked over at him noticing him looking through the kitchen door at the movie still playing on t.v. I immediately rushed over and turned it off. “I didn’t mean to interrupt your movie” he chuckled, I felt my face beggining to burn as I looked around the kitchen trying not to face him. I tried changing the subjectquickly “So what do you need help with?” 1 asked as I walked towards the table, he turned to a page in his book and pointed to a paragraph which was from the book Hamlet by Shakespeare, “I don’t get any of this stuff” he said with a confused look on his face. “This is Shakespeare, it’s hard to understand if you are not familiar with him and the laungage he uses” I said looking back up at him from the book, “Clearly I’m not” he said in a joking voice, she giggled at his joke.  She then noticed this was the first time since he arrived that she had laughed and actually felt comfortable around him. She explained to him what the paragraph in the book actually meant, teaching him the language Shakespeare used to describe people or objects in his plays. “I think I'm starting to understand,” he said with a quick smile on his face looking up at her. “Hamlet is actually a great movie if you watch it” she said, sounding more comfortable, “It’s a movie? It sounds like it would be pretty awesome, could we watch it?” he said with a eagerness to his voice. She sat there kind of taken back by the question, but figured it might actually help him better understand, “W-well.. I mean if you want too” she said quietly shrugging one of her shoulders up and down. A bright smile came across his face as she said those words, “Alright, great!” he said, sounding eager. “I will rent it and come by tomorrow so we can watch it”, he said as he stood up from the table, heading to the front door. Before she could say anything he said “Thanks for the help, see you tomorrow” with a wink and closed the door shut. She sat there dumb founded, did he just invite himself over tomorrow to watch a movie with me? She said whispering to herself.
