I put a hand up to emphasize my words as I tried to wrap my head around what he had just said. “Hold up! Are you trying to tell me this wall is a social divide between two types of people in the same town?”
Charles nodded solemnly. “It’s worse than that, I’m afraid. This wall was built in order to keep the people on this side of town away from these other people on the other side of town because we on this side are thought of as thieves, scaliwags and all bad manner of people.”
