Tracking the Vampyr was not complicated. It seemed to be moving through the sewer system of the city. While I never desired to be this close to rubbish, I was no stranger to uncomfortable smells.
Part of me was relieved that this conflict was going to play out away from nosy humans. The other part was deeply repulsed with the entire nature of this experience. While I could list several different noxious environments in my history, I was still no fan of the tunnels beneath New Orleans.
I marveled at how easy it was for any large body to forget what flowed beneath their feet, so long as they didn’t have to face or smell the issues themselves. New Orleans reminded me a bit of the catacomb beneath Paris. Not nearly as many mummified bodies as Paris, but similar in gothic concept.
