The burly man that led research party that found Liza felt that his luck was really bad. As he listened to Ryder rage and rant, he didn't know whether to cry or to laugh.
He didn't know what was wrong. Liza has been found, so the lycan king should have calmed down.
In fact, judging by his display of joy earlier when they returned, no one would have believed that he would ever be anything but happy again in his life.
But two hours after the lycan king went out with the physician, he returned with a dark and heavy face. All the traces of joy that was in it has vanished.
