Episode 16

ERICA'S POV

I noticed the door was about to open so I closed my eyes pretending I was asleep.

I knew the scent from him, my mate who has decided to ignore me today of all days.

He placed his lips on my cheek, covered me with my duvet and walked out without saying anything.

What the heck!!!!!

He's not even sleeping with me tonight! My first night! It shows he didn't miss me or my touches.

He doesn't want to be near me! Really?

Now I know he's avoiding me.

I cleaned my eyes and stared at the void. There was nothing to cry about, everything would be settled tomorrow morning.

The ray of sunlight pierced through my eyes as I struggled to turn my back at it but it only got worse.

Why must the sun be up so early! Early Morning sleep is very essential for my precious body!

"Argh" I groaned angrily before standing up to stretch my beautiful body.

I freshen up my body and put on my casual wear. I wouldn't leave the house today so I was free to wear anything I felt like wearing.

Stepping out of my room, I headed straight to the main room and heard whispers. It all seems to be whispers since I got back.

I decided to eavesdrop because I knew it could be among the maids.

"I think she doesn't know yet!" I heard one of the maids say and it got me furious

What do I not know!!!

"Beautiful Erica, come let's have breakfast" I heard Ryder's mother's voice behind me and I flinched.

"Mother! You scared me!" I placed my hand on my chest trying to calm down.

"Hahahaha, I'm sorry dear. I wanted to inform you about the breakfast and you seemed so engrossed in your thinking that you didn't know I was behind you.

She held my hand and we strode to the dining table where a lot of dishes were laid. The family were all there and this time, Ryder was seated with his hands on his face.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes at him before taking a seat.

"How was your first welcoming night?" Father asked and I made a sarcastic reply.

"Oh father! It was pleasant that I felt free and happy again."

" That's nice to hear".

I could feel Ryder's eyes on me as I placed my food in my mouth, I was eating with no care of him.

As if seeing the nonchalant attitude I gave his mother cleared her throat. "I hope your night was fantastic dear, Ryder must have been nice this time."

I laughed with sarcasm and said, "Yes, we had a very splendid night and he treated me nicely."

After breakfast, I strode into my bedroom to get something but the door was suddenly locked.

"Why are you doing this Erica?" I heard Ryder's voice behind me and I turned in confusion.

" What am I doing? I should be asking you that instead!" I retorted as I faced him.

" Why must you raise such a sarcastic reply in front of my parents! That's too rude!"

" You called that rude" I raised my eyebrows at him and smiled. " I was ignored yesterday like a plague and you don't think that is rude? You totally avoided me yesterday and didn't even welcome me properly, at the end you came into my room and pecked me. Is that all I earned from you?"

" Erica, this isn't ab…."

" I have told you I don't need your explanation and you don't have to lock the door behind me before you talk to me. Please excuse me." I replied and walked over to the door, I unlocked it and strode out leaving him standing.

I hissed out loud and scurry outside the house to the garden.

The garden was my favorite spot and I missed every part of it.

I found a spot and sat down admiring the beautiful flowers but I was suddenly interrupted with murmurs.

Again!!!

Why must it be everywhere?

This time I had determination that I would get through to the end of the words with no one interrupting me.

I silently tiptoed to the exact place the murmuring came from and yes, it was also among the maids.

"Lycan Ryder can't tell her, see the way she was beaming this morning. I'm sure he even slept with her. I feel so sorry for Erica." I could feel my heart skip at the sound of that.

I have no idea what to make of this, why would they even think we had the night together.

"I second what you said but come to think of it, how will he tell her that he found his new mate? How?"

The words dropped from the second maid and I felt weak on the ground.

"Mate? What mate?"

"Madelyn, you don't have to be this open. We don't know who might be eavesdropping." The first maid warned but she declined.

" Whatever is right should be done. All I see here is conspiracy and cheating. I'm sure everyone know about it and you can imagine how mother made a joke with Erica this morning! And the poor Lady with no knowledge of anything laughed along with her. I wish I could do something." I heard the second maid say and I sighed.

My heart held great sadness and hurt, I can't believe Ryder found a new mate while I was gone. That shows the reason he has been avoiding me because he knew we would have s****l things together and he didn't want that to happen.

Some unknown tears dropped from my face as I stepped backwards and slowly walked away.

This was all they were hiding, the lies and fake smile I noticed were all true.

They are backstabbers!!! They are ingrate! Their mind is full of evil and they aren't good hearted.

More tears came rushing down my face as I tried to stop it but it just couldn't stop coming out.

I am hurt and so is my wolf.
