Ryder’s POV
At this point, I knew I had no choice but to calm her down. I could not afford to let her believe the gossips which are all true. I know Erica well enough and how she ensures she gets rid of every obstacle in her way. Liza is an obvious obstacle and if I keep avoiding her, she would get to the bottom of the truth and that would be the end of Liza.
I took a deep breath in and pulled her closer. “Hey baby, I love you.” I said to her first but I must admit, I cringed from that. I do not love Erica, not even a little but it is a lie had to tell to protect Liza.
She looked at me and her facial expression softened. Thankfully, whatever I am doing is already working. “Really?” she asked me for assurance.
