Xavier's POV There was no doubt in my mind as I'd approached her, that Emelie was frightened of me. Her heart rate was elevated, her breathing shallow, and as she struggled to stand still, her hand had risen to stop mine--hesitating in the air as she closed her eyes, struggling with her words. Terrified. I was of the same making as the monster that terrorized her in her nightmares each night. Unlike him and yet, there was no doubt that we were the same species. Arguably, I was the scarier of the two of us if only because of my bloodline. Ricco couldn't compare. When I took a step backwards, away from her, I could see the tenseness in her shoulders, the flush of her cheeks.
