Outskirts of Kursk Southern Entrance – UAT controlled area Deprived of combat and replaced with a more secondary role, the injured 1st Battalion assumed a more passive role in the urban assault, playing defense after initiating multiple diversions against the IF holding the various entrances to the city. With their part played out and a successful incursion well underway, reaching the outer pockets of the IF’s main line of resistance, the units respectively under Ricardo and Marco took rest around the exposed gateway to the IF’s heart, the only section of the city to fall to Portuguese forces so late in the day.
