I lay against Darien’s chest with my eyes closed and sweat beading on my forehead. My body trembled as the pain came in waves, each one cresting and receding but never fully leaving. My wolf was pressed flat inside me, ears back, whimpering.
“Still with us, Wren?” Alec’s voice was soft.
“Unfortunately.”
“What happened?” Josh was looking at the cuts on my body and the swelling in my leg.
“I can’t talk about it right now.” I clenched Josh’s hand. “Why is this hurting so bad?”
“This is the first time you’ve ever broken a bone, and it looks like it cracked more than once. It’s going to be painful for a while.” Alec looked around for materials. “Leo, go get bandages and splints.”
