The meeting

Mike’s POV  I took Seraphiels advice and decided to speak to Caleb. It was the easiest way to find out his intentions and see if Lily was right about there being good in him. I sent a letter to his house last night through one of the angels to set up the meeting. Luckily one of the angels following him had found where he lived which made it easier to communicate. I just hoped I would be able to realise what his true intentions were and I’m sure he had questions for me too. I had no doubt that he would meet me, I just hoped it didn’t end in a complete disaster.   I was currently sat in The Shack waiting for Caleb to show up. It was mainly a place for Supernaturals but the odd human came in now and again. Vampires could get blood, werewolves had spare clothes available for when they shifted, and many other kinds had resources available to them too. Although not all kinds got on well together, all supernaturals were welcome to a place where they didn’t have to hide what they were. It was the perfect place to meet Caleb if things got out of hand but it also earned me a lot of peculiar stares when everyone saw an angel walk in. We were rare to see, let alone at a bar for supernaturals. The idea would be comical to most. Yet here I was, staring at my watch waiting for Caleb. It was 9:59 so he wasn’t officially late yet. Just as the clock turned to 10, I saw him walk in and kept my eyes on him as he ordered a drink from the bar and came over.   “Thank you for coming.” I stated. I may not like him but I was not a rude person. The waitress came and gave him his drink. I was half surprised to see that is was whiskey, angels didn’t drink but I shouldn’t have expected the same from someone who turned his back on Heaven.   “I’ve got to say, I’m not too surprised Mike.” He enunciated my name as he spoke while narrowing his eyes at me. “Or should I say Michael?” Shock briefly overtook my features as realisation hit that he knew my angel name. He took this opportunity to speak again. “What? Surprised I figured it out? It wasn’t that hard, seriously.” He scoffed. His distaste for me was prominently evident in his tone. I quickly composed myself before I spoke again.  “I kept it simple for Lily.” He raised his eyebrow ever so slightly as he waited for me to continue. “Throughout the years I have left subtle hints that I am an angel so if she ever figured it out, she would know I am Michael. Just in case anything happens to me too, the other angels will put it together that she was on about me when she calls me Mike.” I quickly continued before he asked anymore questions. His rude tone was frustrating me and I wanted to be gone from here as soon as possible. Unfortunately I had to remain my composure as I was representing the rest of the angels -and more importantly Seraphiel- by being here.  “Speaking of Lily, I want to know what your intentions are with her Caleb? Why does a fallen angel like you have such a sudden interest in a mere human?” I downplayed what she was with the hope that he would leave her alone but I should have known that wouldn’t work.   He immediately smirked at my questions. “ My intentions are purely for pleasure, although we both know she isn’t just a mere human, is she?” His response sent shock waves through my system but I tried to refrain from displaying it.   “And what do you think she is then if you think she isn’t human?” My only hope is that he was not fully sure and was confirming it through me.   “Cut the crap Michael. Why would an angel be around a human so much? You want something with her and I intend to find out what it is and who she is”  he seethed as he bore his eyes into me.   My next words came out in a threatening tone as my gaze paralleled his. “Do not involve yourself in business that does not concern you Caleb.” I almost spat my words out at the thought of his actions harming Lily. It wasn’t safe for others to know who she really was.   “ I will find out Angel, even if it’s from Lily herself. I’m sure she would be more than willing to share her most private things with me.” It took all of my strength to not knock the smirk on his off when he said that. I hated what he was insinuating. “I must say” he continued, “I was surprised to see you went out and drank with her. I thought angels didn’t consume alcohol.”   “ Not that it’s any of your business but I’ve always switched alcoholic drinks with non alcoholic variants. I just do it subtly so no one ever notices.” I sighed at his detour before I spoke again. He was letting me know that he had been keeping an eye on Lily and I, and I had quickly picked up on that.  “Look Caleb, if you really do care about Lily then you need to leave her alone. You were once an angel so trust my words, please. Lily believes there is good in you so I am calling on that. Leave now peacefully or you will be waging a war against Heaven. We will not tolerate you interfering in our matters, regardless of the circumstances.”   He inched closer as he responded. “ Well Michael, I’m merely making an acquaintance and you cannot stop that. Heaven can not do anything to me for merely speaking to a girl. So no, I won’t leave. But don’t worry, she’ll be in more than good hands with me, I’ll take very good care of her.”   I simply just sat there and watched him walk out. He was right, we couldn’t do anything if he was only talking to her which infuriated me more. I hated the idea of him using her and playing with her just to fulfill his own motives. He sickened me. I headed out to inform an angel of what went on so they could relay it to Seraphiel. At least I knew his interest in her wasn’t as impure as previously thought. I would have to try my best to shield who she really was from him and hope that he eventually gets bored of finding out. That would have to do until I came up with a better plan that ensured Lily was safe.
