THE CURE

***KIAN'S POV*** I kept staring at the photo on my desk, it was that of Ronaldo and his wife. They've been in hiding for twelve years since the last war, the war that took almost everything away from me. I lost my family in that war and it's only fair that Ronaldo lose his as well. I never knew he had a daughter though, if I had, things wouldn't have gone so smoothly that night. I would have made him watch as I tore his daughter limb from limb just so he'll experience the pain of loosing a loved one. Thanks to his betrayal, I lost my father, my mother and my sister Freya. Freya didn't die though, she just went into a coma from the shock and pain of loosing her mate. I can't imagine how painful it is for her since I never got a mate but that didn't bother me. All I want now is for Freya to wake up. Celeste had tried all the awakening spells she knew but nothing seems to work. “Are you still worrying about your sister? She'll be fine Alpha.” I heard Phoenix's voice from the other end of my office and finally snapped out for my daze. “When did you get here?” I asked, trying to mask my pain as usual. “Not long but long enough to catch you staring into space.” She replied with a smile as she approached me. “What do you want Phoenix?” I asked coldly but she wasn't moved by it. She kept on coming close until she stood right next to me. “Alpha...” She started, gazing into my eyes. She's the only one bold enough to look me in the eye and the only one to still be alive after making eye contact. She has this privilege not only because she's my beta but because we've been childhood friends and I consider her as family. “Kian, you know you can talk to me right? Don't let this leadership stuff make you forget that you have a friend who's always willing to listen to you. You know I'm always here...” “You can go now Phoenix.” I cut her off. I wasn't in the mood for pep talk and her blabbing was starting to annoy me. She frowned for a split second then replaced it with a bright smile. “I understand if you don't want to talk now but just know I'm here if you need anything.” “I do need something.” I said and she stared keenly at me, awaiting my request. “The prisoner, has she been locked up?” I asked and a frown settled on her face. “I still don't get why you're keeping her alive Alpha. She's a traitor...” “Do you think it's my choice to keep her alive?!” I thundered and Phoenix took a step back, lowering her gaze. “Forgive me Alpha.” “She can't be killed, but that doesn't mean she can't be injured. If she's as special as Celeste says she is, then she'll be useful to us in the future.” I said and Phoenix bobbed her head. “I understand Alpha, and as for your previous question, yes, she's been locked up as you ordered.” Phoenix replied. “Good, get me Celeste. I need to speak with her urgently and send someone to check on Freya's condition.” I ordered and she bowed immediately. “Yes Alpha.” She said before leaving. I wrinkled the photo, tossing it to the ground as the sight of that traitor was enough to awaken my wolf. Soon enough, Celeste came in but I could tell she already knew what I was about to ask. “You sent for me, Alpha.” “And I'm sure you already know why, so give me an answer.” I replied. Celeste's face scrunched up into a frown as she took a step forward. “I know you mean well Alpha but what you're about to do could kill the child...” “You said she could be of use to us, this is her being useful. Either that or I'll take out my anger on her immortal skin!” I thundered but Celeste didn't flinch. She's obviously use to me since she's been around for as long as I can remember. “Yes, her blood can heal Freya but she's too weak. Let's at least wait for her 18th birthday.” Celeste suggested but that wasn't going to happen. I didn't have that much patience. If Freya could be healed then I would make her recovery as quickly as possible. “And when exactly is that? I don't want to wait another second knowing that I can finally get my sister back.” “Please Alpha, she's just a child...” “She's a traitor's daughter! I don't care about her age. I was way younger than 17 when her father betrayed mine so why should I care about her life now? All I need is her blood, will it work or not?” I asked Celeste, my tone firm and adamant and Celeste let out a heavy sigh, showing she wasn't going to try to persuade me anymore. “Her blood could be extracted and turned into drugs. That's the most effective way for it to work now.” Celeste replied and i exhaled heavily, happy that I finally found a way to wake Freya from her coma. “And how long will it take?” I asked just to be sure. “We would need to inject Freya with Elara's blood at least three times daily for the next two weeks. That would help her recover fast. Freya might actually wake up in less than a week.” Celeste replied and I bobbed my head as I stood from the chair. “Let's get started then.” I said and began walking away without waiting for Celeste. I knew she would follow me regardless, and she did until we got to the cell. The guards opened up immediately, and I walked in with Celeste. The moment my gaze landed on the fragile looking prisoner, I began having second thoughts about extracting her blood. She might die even before Freya wakes up. “Alpha, please reconsider.” Celeste said in a whisper so as not to wake up the sleeping goddess. I still found that theory hard to believe. “I've made up my mind Celeste. There's no going back now.” I said and ordered the wolves outside to come in through a mind link. Indeed there was no going back from this, and deep down, I hoped she will survive long enough to heal Freya.
