Chapter 53

1405 Words

I kept picturing Arvel in my mind, trying somehow to get him calm and ready to deal with the situation if it got out of hand. The voices seemed to be getting closer, and there were about four or five people. It was probably a family trip. We continued in the water, this time avoiding making noise so as not to attract their attention. I didn't want it to look like we were friendly or that they might mess with us. Of course, I knew how to pretend that I was docile, and also that I was a normal wolf who would run away. However, the last time Arvel had come into contact with a human, it had almost ended in tragedy. It would be very irresponsible of us to let something like that happen. Minutes passed, and we could finally see the silhouettes of the respective voices. It really was a family.
