Chapter 7On this second occasion at David’s home, Raymond felt less intimidated by the grand trappings. Perhaps this was due in part to the sight of a suitcase hurriedly left behind the door, a reminder that David had raced down to Charlie’s to find him. It helped that David was also more relaxed. There was no nervous flurry of hospitality as they sat on the sofa, each with a glass of brandy. Only when David seemed nearly asleep did Raymond grudgingly make a move. He could have stayed all night long in this comfortable space with this wonderful man. “It’s probably time for me to go,” he said reluctantly, getting to his feet.
