*Chapter 2*
Melanie Amell was making breakfast for herself and her son, but a bit restless today. You know that feeling you get when something was about to go wrong. Yeah right as if something worse other than her getting married to Javier could happen. Without meaning to she lost herself into thoughts of how they first met and eventually got married.
*Five years ago*
Mel was running late, literally. Her boss was going to bite her head off today. More like chewing her and spitting up her remains in a dustbin. Don't get me wrong, Henry was old and nice but if someone is late, you get to see his bad side. Traffic was hectic and made me late at least by two minutes. She was so distracted by her thoughts that she did not see a mountain of a man almost infront of her nor his security team. She was startled when she ran into a wall.
"Ouch."
"You should be more careful cara." a deep voice said.
"Uhmm...". She forgot how to speak because the man was gorgeous, beautiful and sexy. Yeah he was sexy alright. He was wearing a navy blue tux and he looked like he was born wearing it. She knew her thoughts were insane but that's how good he looked.
" Im sorry, im running late. It was nice meeting you." she said side stepping him so that she can continue her journey.
The guy caught her arm.
"You don't expect me to just let you go without knowing your name or your contact number do you.?"
"Sorry but...."
"What's your name cara?"
"Melanie Amell, can i go now, im really late?"
"Of course just as soon as you agree to have dinner with me tonight." he said
Thia guy did not know how to ask, just the way he said it annoyed her as hell. But hey she needed him off her back so she quickly agrees to have dinner with him.
One thing led to another and after three months they were married.
*Present*
The problem started when they went back to his home country Spain. Since she spoke spanish it was not that hard for her to communicate and adapt. His family thou was another issue. His mother Catalina his adorable but poisonous little sister Laura had a strong dislike about her. In his presence they pretended to adore and spoil her but as soon as they were alone their horns came out. His mother always told her that she was a gold digger and was not good enough to be the wife of her gardener, never mind her son. Laura on the other hand loathed her saying that she had taken her brother from her. Despite all of that, she had stayed with Javier because she had loved him a lot. And she had told him that at least a million times per day, not that he had said it back. He had usually responded by kissing her senseless.
Once she had asked him why he never said it back, and his response was he did not do love but he appreciated her loving him. Her heart had bled with that answer but she let it go eventually.
Here she was thinking about things that happened five years ago. Nothing was going to change because he had slept with Paola his assistant and Laura's best friend. As if that was not enough, she had heard him in his office talking to Laura. Apparently Laura had been complaining to Javier on how she was not treating her right and neither was Javier spoiling her like he used to, ever since she had became part of their lives.
Javier had stood up from his chair and hugged his sister. Telling her that she did not need to feel jealous because his wife. He had to marry because his deals had required him to have a shy, meek and submissive wife.
Shock had flowed through her when she heard her husband's opinion of her. After that conversation, Javier barely came home and when he did he rarely noticed or talked to her. Enduring that was one of the most painful things that had happened in her life or so she had thought.
Even having s*x with him had became like a duty to her because the passion was no longer there anymore. At least for her but for Javier sometimes it was there. He would often kiss her like there was no tomorrow.
After she missed her period, she decided to see a doctor. Her period was over a month late and she was never late. They did blood tests and she was positive for pregnancy. She was eight weeks long but they had also discovered that she had leukemia. It was rare for a pregnant woman to be diagnosed with that type of leukemia. The cancer was in its early stage but with her pregnancy she could not get treatment. The doctors had advised her to get an abortion but she had refused. Her baby had to live no matter what.
She had tried to talk to Javier but he had always brushed her off,not even listening to what she has to say. Eventually he stopped coming to bed and they had also stopped making love. The pain and the nose bleeds also had begun. Not that anyone had noticed.
Doctor Rafael Rodriguez had thou. He then asked her to come with him to France so that he can start some form of treatment and also try to save her baby. There was no guarantee that it would work.
Having nothing left or someone who cared about her. Her bags were packed and she had left a letter for Javier telling him about her pregnancy and cancer. Not once did he even call.
She spent four years in the facility, she had been in pain everyday but she still had managed to give birth to her son,at least one of him. While she was there, the doctors had discovered that she was carrying twins and in her fourth month she lost the other baby. For days and weeks she kept hoping that Javier would show up or at least call but he never did.
Despite all of that, when she came out of the hospital and had settles in. She had called him but Paola answered as always telling her that Javier never wanted to talk to her again, but she never gave up calling him up. Eventually she received pictures on her phone, they were of Javier in bed together. Some they were kissing passionately, some they were in a pool. At those pictures she finally stopped calling.
She never understood why he did not want to meet his son at least.
"Hello, cara." A deep voice said behind her.
