“Sammy! I found you!” My sweats are dripping. I'm thankful that nothing bad happened to her.
“Let's go, Sammy, you need to go home, it's already late.” I hold her in my arms and immediately pulled her away from that strange door of the basement.
“What's that?” she asked while pointing to the door of our basement. I looked at her with fake squinting eyes, “Huh?” She pointed at the tree.
There's someone. It has plastic to its face, and its body was tied by a thick rope. Her hands start to tremble.
“Hey, stay calm,” I said. She nodded at me. We scanned the place. Who knows if the culprit is still here, and watching us.
“Let's go, Zoe, I can't take it anymore,” her voice cracks. It seems like she's going to cry.
I agreed with her, so I accompanied her to the main road, and I secured her safety. After a few minutes, my instinct said that she arrived safely at her house.
I went back to the house and walks to the basement.
The loud screaming came out from that room. I opened it, and a chair with a man sitting there, while his hands, and legs are tied.
“Why are you here? I thought you guess our house?” I didn't reply. However, he looked at me with a creepy smile.
He pulled the nail from the man's foot, the one who is sitting in the chair.
The victim screams from agony. I closed my eyes. Considering all of these, I can't force him to stop, because my life will be put in danger. He is a psychopath.
When I opened my eyes, the white curtain appeared in my sight. All of a sudden, the sound of the piano was echoing in this empty room.
My tears started to stream down on my face. If I have the confidence to stop him, maybe this will never happen to me, right?
I'm a coward, I'm not the ideal girl you've ever wanted.
“Mom, ” I whispered. The memories brought up my mind, once again. All of a sudden, there's a familiar event that was from my memories. My tears keep streaming down on my face.
“Mom? I love you!” I shouted to my mom. She's doing laundry, if I'm not mistaken she is in the backyard. Furthermore, I'm here in the front yard.
“Come here, Zoe!” she shouted back. I smiled, and I rushed to the backyard.
“Look, Mom, I have a star, my teacher gave it to me because I answered all her questions correctly!” I exclaimed while showing my arm. My mother smiled.
“Very good, you deserved it, keep going! I love you, my daughter,” she stated, I'm having a big smile on my face. I'm glad that she's proud of my achievements.
The place suddenly changed. I'm inside the basement, with different tools, and equipment.
“What's that?” I asked my mother. She's cleaning the floor that was full of bloodstains.
But, I receive no response. She was just sobbing from the time she starts to scrub the floor. I saw a chainsaw and a hammer.
It's a mystery to me. Why do they have to do those things? Do they have a purpose? I don't have any clues. A sudden knock on the door reached our ears.
“Who is that?” I start to walk around, and I find a chair to use for peeking at the eyehole of the door. There was nothing.
“Mom,” I said in an airy voice. My eyes widen. I'm alone here. I don't have any companions here.
The floor is already cleaned, and the walls are clear. What happens? Am I hallucinating? I saw a strange figure at the corner of this room.
Its right eye is bleeding, while its mouth is at the top of its head. It is terrifying features. A blaring sound echoing while the strange thing is getting closer to me.
I looked at my right side, there's a woman who is currently crawling, but she doesn't have any eyes. I gasped for air.
Someone is holding my foot. For an instance, I pulled it, but she's holding it tightly. I felt like my bones are cracking.
Beads of sweat were dripping down from my face. No, it can't be!
“Help! Can somebody help me! Please!” I pleaded. I'm hoping that can somebody could help me out from this horrible situation.
My voice starts to tremble along with my body, and everything becomes blurry, my body is cold for a while, as a result of my bones being dislocated in my knees.
I saw something, I think it's a guy, he's holding a hammer!
“No! Please! Stop!” My tears are flowing.
“Please—” Pain. All I can feel is pain.
Pain from my knees, he hits my knees with a hammer. All of a sudden, I'm currently sitting in the same chair where the victims are being tortured.
I think the bones in my knees were already crushed. I can't move.
My tears are not stopping from falling. Maybe, this is my punishment in everything.
Punishment for not being able to make everything right, and to tolerate all the wrong deeds. Different silhouettes appeared in my sight.
However, their eyes are glowing, and it's a color of white.
“Let's go home.” I heard my Mom's voice, and the strange things were disappeared from my sight. Seriously?
I noticed that the surroundings are quiet and peaceful.
“Are you still asleep, Zoe?” I stood up and remained silent for a moment.
“Maybe, you are awake, but your mind is not.” She looks serious, and like I won't be able to tell a joke on her.
“Mom,” I said. Her eyes glazed over. I think she doesn't want to talk.
“Let's go home!” I exclaimed. She looked at me with a blank expression. Instead, I smiled at her.
We began to walk, but the silence is covering the place. Only the birds, and the wind you could hear.
“Zoe, when I'm gone, promise me that you will be able to get a good job, and a successful life,” she said. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
“Are you going somewhere? Would you leave me here? How?” My heart was pounding, and I hate that feeling, it feels like that thing is killing me.
“Nah, I'm just getting an assurance from you,” she answered, with a forced weary smile.
“Don't mind me, let's go home, Zoe.” My lips pressed together into a thin line, while my shoulder slumped down. I sighed, I think she doesn't want to let me know her reasons.
How old am I? I don't know. Maybe, I'm four? Three? I don't know.
All I know was I'm just a young girl, with a bunch of questions to ask her, but everything seems to be different.
I'm back to the reality, it's just a plain white curtain. I miss you, Mom.
