CHAPTER 3 Evie’s car, an old sporty road model, had been giving her trouble every time it rained and today was no exception. She barely maneuvered the car into a parking spot at the opposite end of the campus before it conked out. She hadn’t expected to be parked so far away from her class and didn’t have any water protection spray for her clothes. She braved the weather across campus and arrived drenched. Evie shook out the water from her long auburn hair and raced down the hall toward her next class. She ran into her brother in the hall but kept walking. “Hey Brad, I’m really late for class. Car trouble! Can you give me a ride home, later?” she said all out of breath. “Sure, I have two more classes. Meet me at 3:45 in front of the annex.” “Thanks,” she said, as she kept going.
