Rebellious 18

1510 Words
True to their words, Rayver did really take a vacation for us to prepare for our wedding. It wasn't something I expected him to do. I mean, I don't really mind having somebody else prepare it for us. We even hired a wedding planner and everything, we do not need to personally attend to check out everything but as per my father's words, we have to show ourselves in public. Just the thought of me makes me want to roll my eyes in annoyance. I don't get where this obsession came from. Just why do we have to hold hands?! "No... Let go, Rayver. This is not necessary," I told him. "I want to hold your hands," he said and that stopped me. "After this, you will meet my aunt. I already prepared everything." I blinked my eyes twice. "Huh?" Did I hear it right? "My aunt..." Again, my eyes blinked a lot of times. "I am meeting your aunt later?" He just hummed like the idea actually never bother him. While I tried to calm myself because— well, I didn't know. He never informed me so, I never bother to wear something nice! At least, I need to make a good impression! But after assessing my reaction, I almost smack my head. Why am I overreacting when it shouldn't even be a big deal, right? Shaking my head, I withdraw my hands from him and pretend to fix my hair. I walked away a little and went to the other side of the room, looking for the display. We are currently with our wedding planner to choose the motif and we haven't chosen anything yet. We are almost out of time for today's schedule and I don't even understand why we have to bother putting some thought into choosing something for our wedding. Perhaps, the dreamy girl inside me is actually hoping for this thing to come out as she likes. I mean, I'll get married and it's for real so, why not make everything out of it, right? I just want to find something good out of this whole thing. "I'm very sorry to keep you waiting. I have found my portfolio... You can now choose, please. Shall I leave this?" I turned around to look in his direction. It was the wedding planner and Rayver... he looks so bored drowning me with his deep stares. I scoffed and gaze at the wedding planner before finally walking in towards her. "Can I take this home? We will call you once we have come up with a decision," I asked politely and she gently nodded her head before glancing in Rayver's direction. The knot in my forehead deepened at the subtle stare she throw at him. But nah... it is not the same stares I usually witness with other girls. It seems like she is... kind of bothered. Scared? Intimidated? Honestly, I don't know and I less care about it. Well, with the way Rayver scoffed when he caught my eyes rolling at me, I'm sure anyone would actually be frightened by the dark atmosphere he surrounded himself with. "Yes, of course, Ms. Madrigal... Just call me right away when you are decided already." I nodded and smiled a little before reaching my bag laying on the sofa. I put the portfolio inside and just motion Rayver to stand up. "We should decide in a week," I told him. "Or no wedding will be held." "You should tell yourself that," he reached out to my bag and because it was a sudden move, I wasn't able to resist. "I will have this... Shall I drive you home first before meeting my aunt? Do you want to change or what?" I looked at the reflection of myself in the mirror. The wedding planner left us and that's when I glared at Rayver. "Is my dress not decent in the meeting-your-aunt scenario?" "No..." he quickly shook his head. "I mean, you look fine as hell. I just thought that you might want to change so, I offered to drive you home but if everything is already ready for you, then let's go." He held my hands and I wasn't able to move anymore when he intertwined our fingers together and carefully drag me outside the building. I groaned when the striking sun hits me. "Rayver," I called in a low voice. "There is no need to rush, seriously! Were you that bored? You could have told me!" "I wasn't bored," he defended himself then, we stopped right in front of his car. "I just want to... Well, I was bored and annoyed because you can't pick something for our wedding. I should have just picked, right? But then, you are the wife and I must concede." He tsk-ed. My brow raised at him. "You could have told me that you want something. I wouldn't pick everything else! Besides, you are not communicating with me. Instead of helping me choose, you just sat there in silence looking so bored." Gosh... He is annoying. If he want, he could have really helped me because I was really having a hard time choosing. Well, I don't know him so, I don't know what he's like. And now, he's telling me all these when in the first place, I didn't even restrict him from participating. He opened the car for me and I bump into his shoulder before I went inside the passenger seat. I followed him with a gaze as he made his way to the driver's seat. I buckled my seatbelt, wondering if we'd really meet his aunt now. Honestly, I am nervous. I just have to act like we were in love and all but somehow, I can't help but be nervous. Would she like me? Not for me but as me... as Lili. Well, I guess we'll know once we meet. Yet I am not yet ready. I put the blame on him for telling me this suddenly. I didn't even prepare for anything. Before we could even leave the parking, I held his hand on the steering wheel. He looked at my hand before my eyes. I let out a small smile. "Can I move it some other time?" I asked, gently caressing his skin with my fingers while I locked my eyes with his. "I mean, I didn't prepare anything. Like... a gift or something. It would be inappropriate on my part." He tilted his head. "You don't have to." "I want..." I faked a cough. I let go of his hand and shifted in my position. "I mean... well, I wanted to offer something such as a gift. It's not that a big deal. If you want my relationship with your aunt to be better then... let's postpone it. My attire isn't even proper." It's just a pair of coordinated shorts and a top. Nothing really special. I don't want to give an impression that I didn't prepare for this one. Although, it's not my fault. She shall blame Rayver for giving her that kind of impression of me if ever. He faced me. "Just tell me if you don't want to meet her and it'll be fine." I shook my head. "It's not like that. I mean, we want everyone to believe that this whole thing is real, especially your aunt. What would she feel if she finds out? She is your only family and she'd be upset for sure once she discovers that everything between us is made in exchange for something, right?" "She will understand," he uttered which made me scoff. "Sure..." In the end, we choose to go somewhere else. I am glad that he canceled the appointment. I felt bad because when he called his aunt and I got to hear some part of their conversation, she sounded disappointed but later understood the situation. Nope, he didn't tell her the real reason, of course. I looked at Rayver who was frantically busy typing on his phone. His condo is huge, huh? It has a second floor and everything is neat and very clean. "Do you have a cleaner come by?" I asked. "Yeah..." I head. "How frequent do you sleep here?" "Once a week? Sometimes, twice. But most of the time, I sleep at the office, especially during busy days. Well, now that I am on vacation leave, then I could enjoy living in the comfort of my home." I nodded. "It's nice. Clean and very modern." "Thanks," he expressed. "Do you want something?" I sat on the sofa and raised my eyes to look at him who was standing just a few meters away from me. "What's on the menu?" Shaking his head, he stood up straight and without a word, he walked towards his— I think, kitchen. Sighing, I lay down on the sofa and closed my eyes. I am sleepy and I want to take a nap. This day is tiring and I just want to rest for a bit. I closed my eyes there, trying to sleep.
