Chapter Seven - Acceptance.

1896 Words
Henrik's POV. I had sat there in my office all day, trying to decide what to do. Even Thor wasn't sure what was best to do. I asked Ingrid to discuss packs and the King with Kari so that she was prepared. It would take a few hours for the king to get here, he would come in his private jet. So I knew that I needed to initiate her into the pack first. I would call the King first thing in the morning, which would give him two days to get here before she shifts. Suddenly, my door banged open and my sister walked in, and I noticed that she looked like a mini version of Kari, which made me smile. "Ericka!" I said and she glared at me. "I tell you what, I will call you Angelica if you start knocking before barging into my office." She thought for a moment. "Deal." She huffed. "What can I do for you?" I asked my baby sister. "Can I meet her?" She asked me, kneeling on the chair by my desk. "Give it time, Den lille. She has learned she is a wolf and has a big family after 22 years of being on her own. It is a lot for her. Ingrid has spoken to her and she is going to join us for dinner. As long as you're not all over her, I will introduce you then." I promised and her whole face lit up, which made me smile. "And then tonight she is going to become a part of our pack." "I have a sister! The moon goddess finally listened to me," She jumped out of the chair and ran from the room. Thor chortled. My wolf was protective of only four women up until we found Kari. Now he would turn the world inside out to protect Kari as well as his little sister, his mother, his mate, and his baby girl. His twin brothers would also be at dinner but would miss out on the initiation due to them being on patrol around a part of the pack. Magnus was away at university but worked patrol in his area when he was needed. I picked up the phone and dialled his number from memory. "Henri!" Came my brother's voice. "How are things?" "Magnus," I said. "Up and down, we are accepting her into the pack tonight." "That is quicker than I expected," he said, his voice full of surprise. "Yes well, some things have come to light which I won't explain over the phone. I will discuss them when you return home tomorrow. Just phoning to make sure you were still coming." I asked him. "Yes, of course. How is she?" He asked. "Better than we expected, since she's been told so much in such a short period of time. She is taking it all in her stride, but I worry she is going to explode when it gets too much." "She is human, this world is a lot to take in." He responded. "That's the thing, she has a wolf. Her wolf is called Hela," I told him. "She hasn't shifted yet though." "But isn't she older than you?" I could hear the confusion in his voice as he spoke. "Yes, her wolf went into hibernation to protect her," I explained. "Well, that's a turn-up for the books! Protect her from what?" "Herself, I think. She didn't have an easy life after her mother died." "Jesus wept." He muttered. "OK, well, I will leave tonight and be home before the Initiation." "Don't rush," I said. "She is still unsure about meeting everyone." "I would like to be there, even if I stay out of sight," he said. "OK, that should be fine, but it's up to her," I muttered. "Alright, I will see you later." I hung up from my brother and made my way to the dining hall to find my mate and daughter already there. I made my way over and tickled my daughter, making her giggle before kissing her on the head. I then sat down next to my mate. Moments later, I see my sister walk in with Ralf. Her hair was up in her signature high ponytail and she wore a violet wrap-around summer dress and a pair of silver sandals. I could feel the nerves flowing off her in waves. He walked her over to us and I stood and pulled the chair out on the other side of me for her to sit down. The chatter in the dining hall had died down as they watched her walk in. There were a few growls and sneers as she walked past people and I noticed one of her eyes turn purple. Her hands were clenched together and I could see her knuckles turning white. I leaned down and whispered. "Hold it in Hela, it won't be long now." I heard my sister release a breath of air and her blue eyes returned. After she sat, I addressed the pack that was there. "For those who don't know, this is my sister, you all know that my parents are chosen mates. It has never been a secret, but before he marked and mated my mother, he had found his fated mate. Due to unforeseen circumstances, my father had to leave her. Now she has been returned to us, you will all afford her the same respect as any other member of the Alpha family. Do you understand me?" "But she is a rogue!" one pack member shouted. I felt my sister slump under my hands that were on her shoulders. "And she will be a pack member as of the full moon, like any other person who is accepted into this pack. DO...YOU...UNDERSTAND?" I asked, letting a little of my Alpha aura out, making them submit to me and bare their necks. "Yes, Alpha." Came the reply. I sat down next to her. She looked at me and smiled as my other sister came in and sat down. She looked at me and bit her lip. "Kari, I wanted to introduce you to someone," I said and she looked up at me. "This is Angelica." "Hi," Angelica said nervously before going back to biting her lip. "Hello Angelica, that's a beautiful name. But why do you like it better than Ericka?" Kari asked, breaking the ice between them. "Because they call me Eric at school." She mumbles, looking at her hands in her lap, making me look at her. She had never said anything about that. "Well, I think Ericka is a beautiful name." Kari smiled. "Do you know why?" "Why?" She asked, looking up at Kari. "Because it means the ruler of people, it's regal and special, only given to girls who are born to lead," Kari told her with a wink. You could see the cogs working in my little sister's head as she thought about it. "I think I prefer Ericka," She said. "You know what, Ericka? I've always wanted a little sister." Kari said just before Ericka launched at her and hugged her. I looked at my mate, who smiled lovingly at the scene. One sibling down, three to go. After we had eaten, I returned to my office to continue with work. I was lost in what I was doing when I scented Magnus before he knocked on the door and walked in. "Magnus, what time is it?" I asked, a little surprised to see him. I had been so lost in my thoughts. "Eleven." He responded. "How are you?" I asked. We still had half an hour until we take Kari to be accepted into the pack. "Good, one more assignment to complete and I am all done. I can come home." He responded, sitting down opposite me. "So tell me what you couldn't discuss over the phone." "We think that Father's fated mate was the lost princess," I told him. "What?" He asked. "What makes you say that?" "Kari's wolf has purple eyes, we need to wait for her to shift to know for sure but we think she is royalty." "So she should have the mark?" He asked. "And a white wolf with opalescence fur," I told him. "And why are you accepting her so early?" Magnus asked. "Because she is technically a rogue, and if the king gets here and takes her away, she is a rogue and not royalty." "He will kill her," Magnus uttered. "And both Thor and Odin are adamant we need to do it tonight," I told him. "Odin will not allow anyone to take his pup from him again. "Have you informed the king?" "Not yet, I want to initiate her into the pack first and then I will call him tomorrow morning. At least that way we can protect her." "That sounds like a plan." Magnus nodded. "Shall we make our way out there?" We both get up and make our way over to the clearing we do our rituals in and find that Ericka, Heather, Ingrid and Kari are already there. My mother and father came in not long after Magnas and I. "Kari," Magnus says, approaching her. "I am Magnus. It is such a pleasure to finally meet you," "Ah, the second eldest son." She smiled at him. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well. Thank you for being so welcoming." "The pleasure is all mine. I have looked forward to this day for some time." Magnus smiled. "So, what do I have to do?" I led her into the centre of the clearing and I let a claw out to cut my palm. She gave me hers, I guess Hela had explained to her. I made a small cut on her palm and joined our hands. "Do you, Kari Marit Larson, agree to uphold the laws of the West Nordic Pack?" I asked her. "Yes, I do." She responded. "Do you agree to help protect those within the pack who are unable to do so themselves?" "Yes, I do." "I, Alpha Hendrik Pederson, Alpha of the West Nordic pack, accept you, Kari Marit Larson, daughter of Alpha Andres Erik Pederson and Jennifer Clarke, as a valued member of the pack," I said and I felt her link snap into place. "Welcome, dear sister. you are now officially a part of our pack." "No more smelling like garbage?" She asked and I laughed. She looked at her hand shocked and noticed it was healed already. "What...?" She started. "A bonus to being a werewolf," Ingrid explained. "Fast healing. So happy to have you as part of the pack." Mother and Father approached her. I could smell how nervous my father was. "Pappa." She said. "I have wanted you here for so long, I only wish I could make everything up to you." He said, his face full of pain for all that he had lost. "In time, Pappa, I promise, I will give you a chance to explain. Just let me get my bearings." She said to him. "Of course, my little Pepperkorn." He smiled at her and she smiled. She turned to me, smiled, and then frowned. "What is it?" I asked. "Hela said she couldn't wait anymore." She murmured. "What do you mean?" I asked before she fell to her knees and screamed in pain.
