DRM

Alenia was in the midst of googling all of the Marstons in the tri-state area when her phone chimed. Jacob.. Baby. It didn't mean anything. Can you please let me in so we can talk. Didn't mean anything? So he threw everything they had away and didn't even care. She tapped back an answer, steam practically rolling from her ears. I have sent all of your things to your office. Please stop trying to come to MY apartment. When they had started dating, Jacob had been quick to move in with her but never wanted to add his name to the lease. All of the bills were in her name. Gloria had gone with her to have the building manager change the locks the day after the incident. After her friend disposed of everything that the cheating pair had been touching when Alenia caught them, being without a sofa isn't quite as inconvenient when no one else lives with you. This was her apartment. Oh, come on. You're going to let something like this ruin our lives. I'm human. I made a mistake. Let me make it up to you. Alenia was seething. She set her phone aside and focused on her search: Dex Marston. She couldn't find anything under that name specifically. Not an address, a phone number, or even a social media profile. She was ready to give up when Gloria called. "It might be a long shot, but I think I may have found him." "Really? Where Glory?" "Now Lenia, please don't get too worked up cause it doesn't list a first name. Just a Mr. Marston is working for a company called DRM Enterprises. It doesn't even say what he does." DRM? Alenia did a research paper on them. One of the most powerful companies in the state. They appeared seemingly overnight, taking out competition with ease and quickly becoming a big name. They owned a majority of businesses in the area. Competition to work there is fierce even as an assistant. "DRM? You're kidding me?" "No, that's what it says. Is that like a big deal? I've never heard of them." Gloria had majored in art history and worked in a museum. There was no reason for her to know anything about a company that did a majority of its dealings behind closed doors. Alenia, on the other hand, had completed her masters in business. A company like DRM was the dream. Though she had never applied out of fear of rejection. "Kind of. Does it say anything else?" "It says their offices are located downtown. Maybe you should just go there and check it out. It can't hurt right?" Alenia never imagined she'd be bold enough to just show up at a company like that, but the thought was tempting. She could do some detective work and maybe even find Dex himself. Surely if she dressed nicely and had her resume in hand she might be able to talk to someone? She made her way down the elevator of the office building, clutching her resume tightly in her hands. She tried to stay calm as she stepped into the lobby though her heart was pounding wildly in her chest as a secretary waved her away without so much as a glance in Alenia's direction. Her plan had been to claim she had an appointment with one of the names on her list of mid level DRM employees. What was she thinking? This was a renowned business they dont just let people walk in off thw street and ask questions, no matter how smartly they dress. The quick dismissle of her presence shook her a bit and she went to the restroom to splash some cool water on her face. Feeling deflated, she made her way back over to the secretary's desk with one last attempt to gain further access to the building and ended up filling out an application. There was a position open for an administrative assistant which she was more than qualified for. With businesses like this however, it is as much about qualifications as it is about connections. She submitted the application with a sliver of hope in her heart. The ping of the secretaries email went off. The elegently dressed young woman narrowed her eyes at Alenia. "I am guessing that your Alina Anderson?" "Alenia. Yes i am." "Right. You have an interview tomorrow morning at 6:30. Dont be late. And in the future do not disrupt business like this without having an interview or appointment lined up." Alenia nodded unable to find words. This company was her dream job. She had been on leave from Sanderson associates for the last week due to the incident. Gloria had called and told them that she was taking personal time for a family matter. But now she may never have to return to a company where she has to stare at the person who ruined her life every day. Even if she didn't get the job, this still gave her an opportunity to get farther in the door than the secretaries desk
